*** AMD Radeon R9 290X Reviews Thread ***

Great price for the performance. It doesn't make me regret my 780 though given that both cards seem so close in performance and my 780 does it at half the temperature.

Opinions please....

Currently running CF 7970's GHZ @1100/1600, would it be worth while selling both my cards for lets say £400 buying a 290x in hope I can get another as soon as the cash is free'd up.
I dont want a massive drop in BF4 performance though, the 7970's seemed to do a job job averaging 85FPS in the Beta, and BF4 is the reason I bought these cards in the first place.

So, thinking more long term (say 3 years), would I be better off sticking with GTX 670 SLI, or going with something like this? Considering it would probably still end up costing me, selling the 670's and getting one of these. Also, my cards are silent, and boost around 1200 core.

Game on both 2560x1440 and 1080.

If running on air, I would avoid buying these 290x cards if planning on keeping for 3 years. I would wait for the die shrink next year.

This card is a top performance card but its also very hot as it is at the technology limits of what is possible.

The die shrink will give you all this performance with significantly less heat.

+1 about TTL the guy chats ****, looking at the reviews with no view of buying either a 780 or a 290x, I'd buy the 290x based on what I've seen it's a stonking release from AMD they really have got their **** together!

If you are gaming on 1920 res, the dips on BF4 I would be suspect more on CPU side than CF7970 being the limitation.

I don't know why people bother with TTL video reviews, ok his case reviews are good but anything with hardware - hes useless, and his Hitler style moderating on his forums with his shandy drinking following.

I believe that these cards are not the worst but for outright performance team green is the plan!

Yeah i saw him and his cronies be pretty obnoxious to Kaap on their forums. Made me want to sign up and lay some verbals on them. I decided not to though.

+1

I put him in the same boat as Kyle Bennett of [H]. Also a DBag.

I think we have upset him and his following..

There are some proper ****holes bad mouthing TTL/OC3D on various forums, Guessing because he told the truth about a product.

To be honest though, the pricing on the 290x is "reasonable" is what I gonna say. The thing is because we had the stupidly overpriced GTX780/Titan robbing in out face for so long, so these looks amazing for the price in contrast.

Good job for AMD for bring graphic card prices back down to sanity level (not the madness with the GTX780/Titan pricing), but part of me really wished they could have brought these out at this price at no more than 1-2 months later than the release of GTX780.

Too much damage has been done by people buying the overpriced Nvidia cards, which created the knock-on effect of inflating the pricing of the graphic market as a whole. I honestly don't blame Nvidia for pricing their cards high...I blame people with silly amount of disposable money buying their cards and keeping their prices high, and costing us those that want value for money for our cards :p

I will probably be getting one, but will probably wait for 290's release as well before making my decision, and custom cooler from manufacturers before opening up my wallet.

I personally haven't really spent time on the TTL/OC3D...but ironically, with followings like that it's not exactly help painting a good picture for reviewer themselves. They are doing more harm to the reputation of the people they are trying to defend more than anyone else.
Maybe you didn't but other people have, Just saying.
There are more forums than just here. Possibly if the results are questionable, then everyone would be questioning it (well, except may be own followings).
