2013 Haswell Retina MacBook Pro...

You'll get a specific date once you get a UPS tracking number. Mine was 30-1 now dispatched UPS shows it should be here in 4 days so the 30th.

Dude, you just saved me from a £1,700 headache!

will be keeping my PC for a bit longer, couldn't find half the software I used for OS X either. Perhaps a blessing in disguise

actually, I told a lie. I did buy a Mac about ten years ago and returned it after a month. Seems they haven't really come on a lot since then, as my research seems to tell me they are really lacking in software applications. Really wanted a new toy as well

To be fair Glen, Macs are probably left to those of us that know how to use computers ;)

Enjoy Windows 8 :p

trololol. What applications do you use? Since switching my work pc to a mac there is nothing that I can't run, even if there is not a specific mac program you can virtualise a windows program so that everything can run pc or mac.

Take off your fanboy glasses off for a second and read his post carefully, the 13 inch version of this laptop seems to have issues.mits been backed up by that link someone else posted.

Why are you ignoring this ? This is a concern because you buy expensive laptop and it has issues?

Doesn't matter if it's a mac or a dell. It is a concern

Just hold tight, could be a Mavericks issue that'll get patched out, much like the Mountain Lion issues or the SMC issues before. Doesn't matter if it's Windows or Mac, software stuff still goes wrong, as I can attest to when doing my roughly biennial upgrade of PC parts... What a headache that was. Driver, sound and PCI issues galore. :p

Not an issue for me as I don't have one.

Not a fanboy either, but it's incorrect to suggest that it won't run software when it obviously will.

If he ends up virtualising a lot of software rather than running native versions then there isn't much point in him running OSX.

I tjought Macs were targetted at people who didn't have to know how to use computers.

no difference after you setup the windows install, they would just launch like a mac app anyway.

But his harware is showing problems... locking up
And OSX needs windows virtualised to run the software he needs

I can't see much gain for him in using a Mac, and that's his point I think.

hope so!

But it is a problem for 13inch users or potential buyers so you can ignore it.

It is a valid concern

Sounds like the lag from the 2012, doesn't sound good at all.

I've actually noticed it in other areas as well, scrolling image heavy websites, loading terminal seems pretty bad as well. Definite stutter there.

Again, it's absolutely minor to me, it doesn't really bother me and i'm actually looking for it. Overall i'm very happy with it, the screen really is an absolute joy to use. Compared to the 2012 Air it's like night and day.

Anyone got any reference on the heat these machines produce?

Can only comment on my experience thus far which has been mainly light, but the heat has been pretty low.

But not enough to know how to run PC software on a mac?

Parallels or vmware fusion would have been my choice, however I was surprised at how little impact apple have had since the last time I owned one.

In any case I'm happy to use vmware but I'm not happy about spending all that money on something which obviously has issues.

Which is fair enough, I'm sure like the problem the first retina macbook had, it was fixed pretty quickly.

No problems found on any of the 15inch. The 13inch always seems to have issues.

The 15inch is so awesome that it will kill mac pro / mba usage if you have one.
