Awesome - I'm doing the Olympic distance too so I might see you there if they're mixing up the relays and soloists. I think I'm signed up for the Sunday :)

I could do with finding a route where I can get a 25 mile ride in with no traffic lights so I know what sort of time I can do that distance in.

You'll find you're a good few mph quicker on the closed course. When I did it I could average 20mph on similar length rides. When I came to do the event I averaged over 23mph.

I would highly recommend following Intermediate Base I and then Base II after. I builds your endurance and II introduces VO2 max work that will improve your sprints and short burst power.

thanks mate

on another note, I sent my polar strap back to wiggle and re ordered the wearlink plus one from another company, and it came today, in the exact same packaging

but this time I opened it and it IS he right one

so I didn't need to send it back to wiggle after all
so I've now emailed wiggle to say that their website is actually correct !

I'd be interested to read a review of the software, I've long been tempted by Trainer Road. Which trainer are you using it with, and do you have a power meter or are you using their pre-defined lists?

I used Virtual Power, connected to my Garmin ANT+ device and using the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine

I need to head out that way to do Winnats pass. I've driven it many times, never cycled.

Winnats Pass?

I am sure that's the peak district is it not? been there a few times when I go for a walk in the peak district, but one day I wish to cycle the peak district

Looking into getting a turbo/trainerroad as I may be able to do something productive as its impossibly to get any sort of intervals/rhythm on the London roads

Any suggestions around the £200 mark? Or less of course. Heard good things about the Kurt Kinetic as may have even upped my budget if I could find the MK I in stock anywhere but the £400 for MK II is a tad too much

Do I need anything else straight away with it (is a new wheel absolutely necessary?) or can you get away with a month with just a turbo and then add on as you go (and payday comes of course!)

Trainerroad + turbo + ant+ sensors + ant+ usb stick is the usual combo

Turbo can make a mess of your tire apparently, so you end up with little bits of rubber everywhere or so I've heard - might be worth getting a turbo tyre to prevent this.

Winnats pass is pretty brutal isn't it?

Winnats pass is evil, pure evil. Steep, narrow and very busy on a weekend. I don't have the urge to cycle up it again and I don't think I ever will :D

Maybe the lightweight and younger whippets amongst you will enjoy it, but for me it was just nasty :p

Woo, got the go ahead from the mrs for the London triathlon! Now to find a swimmer and see if work will pay for my travel and accommodation costs...

Well, that's put me off it successfully :p

Oh and whilst I remember, me 2/3 the way up Tuesday's ascent (no I didn't take the bus):
