*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

My screen makes an strange squeaking noise when I press down on certain parts of the screen. Anyone else have this on their phone?

Am I just over-thinking this or is it worth taking back to CPW?

This was quite a difference to when I first had the phone after a few charge cycles. Those google framework and google play service's tricks really helped out.
I'm not a heavy user anyway so this is more than good enough for me.
The last 45 minutes today was spent playing with the camera, making some sphere pictures and doing some video's of my baby and streaming them to the tv. I just took the screenies and it powered down.

Are you sure it's not a quiet rattle? My screen doesn't squeak however I get a small rattle coming from the camera casing. Had the same on the Nexus 4 so I think all of them have the rattle.

Go to Settings/Apps/All
Then find Google Framework and Google Play Services and force stop them and clear the data. When you have done them both Reboot your phone.
That's what I did anyway.

Whats really going on with the camera?

Mixed reviews so far.

- Marques Brownlee wasnt all that impressed. He didnt seem that enthusiastic like he was with the Moto X.
- The Verge are not impressed.
- Android Police say its okay but not great.
- Artem (ex-AP) is not impressed at all.

Focusing and software issues aside, they all say that the picture quality is an improvement over the N4 but still not good enough.

How are people then saying the camera is better than the HTC One and S4?

"Google play has N5 leaving warehouse in 4 to 5 weeks , is it wise to order now or wait for a month ? and how easy is it to cancel from Google once ordered ."

Android Community reporting that anyone order Nexus 5 in US or Canada now will have to wait until end of November. Back-logged already!

I will say it is not consistent. I have taken some cracking photo's but to get that one good picture I have taken 4 crap ones. HDR mode is brilliant but it takes ages to focus, no good when your trying to take pictures of your 7 month old baby flying around the kitchen in her walker :D
Video is impressive though. But again some times it does not focus properly.

It will do me though and no doubt be fixed in a software update.
The pictures that are good are a lot better than the best ones I ever took on my S2. Photo sphere is very good.

So kind of like take as many as you can and hope one will be perfect?
That would kind of suck if you pulled it out and wanted a quick picture for example

better is a strong word to use in this case :) its better in some cases but its slow to shot, slow to focus etc.. and google AFAIK is aware of the issue and is working on it :) it takes a couple of takes to get the "right" picture but once you have it, its alright overall! :) low light is good if a bit TOO Bright imo.. contrast is a bit off sometimes..

some random shots I took -;

It's a little shame they didn't use a polarizer on the IPs screen, I've come across a few situations already where a dark screen viewed at an angle from the corner appears quite washed out.

This isn't a panel lottery situation either, as Google simply didn't include the polarizer to save on cost.

Yes - grudas made a video of this. It put me right off the screen.

It's the lesser of 2 evils though. I didn't realise how terrible the SAMOLED screen in my Note II was for colour accuracy until I compared a photo on the N5, Note II and the actual object photographed.

I can't have another phone with those horribly overblown colours, even on the "natural" setting. There's no need for it, as it's not an inherent flaw with the OLED technology, and even worse some IPS panels have been trashed with the phone manufacturers (LG and HTC, you're ******!) applying the same overblown settings to their screens :(
