BMW and M Power Owners

Would have been cheaper and easier to just replace the tyres surely

So, change the set of 3 thousand mile old Goodyear Excellence tyres (£500) Get it serviced (£300, its due in January) the rear brakes need doing shortly (another £90), for a car that we were aiming to change in June anyway (admittedly for another mini).

OR, spend £300 more (£1200 into the new car as deposit) and get a car that's 4 years younger and that she is convinced will be safer in, wont need servicing for a year, has new tyres and is cheaper to insure.

Choices choices eh?
OCUK logic to the rescue once again.

I surprise myself sometimes how I've managed to get to 38 without people holding my hand over such banalities as buying the wife a car.

£300 for decent tyres and maybe £1 for some man up cream. If you are still struggling then bitch-slap cream is currently on offer.

To be honest there is nothing wrong with Goodyear Excellence and they are not known for tramlining or 'being lairy' so the whole thing sounds a bit weird, especially the 'Just £300 more'.

Yea, the DEPOSIT is just £300 more, what about the subsequent monthly payments etc? It's not £300 more to own than a Mini, surely?

So the E46 is back in my possession at last! :D Apparently it was an absolutely horrible horrible job replacing the starter motor, and the techs had called it many names, but eventually it played ball. £426 for the pleasure.

They also found an oil leak while in there, so looks like it will be back in a week or two, but at least I can get them to change the oil pressure sensor while they're at it.

Does anyone know if using non RF tyres on a car that has them as standard affects BMW warranty in any way? Google has failed to give me a conclusive answer so this is the last stop before I give them a call...

Finally gotten fed up with the ride/terrible wet grip that the standard Bridgestone Potenza's give my 135i.

The 318 drives well and other than no power (All of my cars in the last 10+ years have been turbo'd awd toys, even the 528 was sub 200bhp :/ ) and no remote CL, hardly an issue...

I went from a 528i to a 318i, whilst it was great on fuel, it was a bore to drive.

I now have an e46 325i.

Given your past cars, I reckon you'll do a similar thing within a year as I did.

It's not that bad of a job, 5 mins once the intake is off. Doable but extremely tricky with intake in situ.

Indeed, that was kind of the point, the 318 only really needs to last 6 months or so. I was so bored on the way home last night I tried to see how far I could get not using my feet but by simply adjusting the cruise control, still 35mpg+ is as good an excuse as any, with the 528 it was a nicer place to sit but wasnt giving me any savings where the 318 is cheaper on fuel and insurance, so that means I can either sell the old Turbo and all of the spares I have and then buy something else the end of Q1 or, send the Turbo away somewhere and get the bits that I need doing to it done, and then sell the other spares off so theres less clutter around the house..
I'd prefer the second option as I dont think if I get rid I'll find another one, eitherway the missus doesnt like the garage being full of car bits and the office being full of PC bits, I need to downsize and while getting rid of the car and all of the parts would give her one less thing to moan about (lets be fair, there will always be something..) it would leave me with a hole for a more spirited car...

I've had absolutely no problems and they've even replaced a cracked rear alloy for me with a normal tyre on it.

Does anyone know how or if it's possible to change the headlight beam direction on an 07 E92 for driving in Europe?

I've read conflicting stuff by searching the internet.

Not sure if the e90 would have a settable function via idrive or dis but on my old a3 there was literally a lever at the back of the bulb units to switch from LHD to rhd and vice versa

looking for a family "half-sporty" BMW at up to 15k, mileage about 11k a year - but maybe commute to work may extend from a current 5 miles a day to 15 miles each way

I've been considering 330i M Sports, and 320d/330ds - but not sure if the mileage really justifies the extra maintenance of the diesels, and I've heard that the N53 330i engine is pretty efficient anyway

at that sort of price would you look to main dealers, or try and get a newer one from a smaller garage ?

I've seen a nice 330i M Sport at a local BMW dealer, but somehow in back of mind 13k for a near 70k 2008 mile car seems a lot

I'm assuming since you're asking, you have adaptive xenons? If not, there is no beam adjustment necessary as the headlight beam pattern should be flat.

Are adaptive xenons those which curve the beam when you turn a corner? If so, no it doesn't have that. So it'll be legal for Europe?

Will normal petrol cause any problems in a 330ci rather than vpower?

I've read mix views online but does anyone actually know?
