Pc vs ps4

You won't get a PC+monitor+keyboard+mouse for £349 that compares to a PS4.

You won't ever beat top end PC graphics on a PS4.

That's all there is to it.

Well, I've not played it but surely all these people actually playing it right now would be best to judge!

Even if it only runs 10fps, at least it runs. The PC minimum spec requires 512mb GFX card with 4G of ram and dual core i5 processor.

Anyone here has an i5 CPU, 4g of ram and 512mb card back in 2006?

I believe back in 2006, a gig of ram was like £100 as well.

Not to mention the system back then would be close if not on the wrong side of £1,000 and it would be pretty much worthless today. Where as a console would still have some resale value.

So all this "£10 saved per game" argument to say somehow PC gaming is as good value for money doesn't hold any water for me. I can also happily go out a buy a game on my console without a single worry about whether it will run, or ever need to check its specs, ever. Not something a PC gamer can do year after year for 7-8 years. I mean if you are one of those people who gets a kick out of running everything maxed out in 97fps with the CPU at 30c etc then that's fine. I just want to play games.

It doesn't run at 1080p. Even the PS4 and XBOne don't run at 1080p, they do however manage 60fps constantly unlike the ps3/360 that dip as low as 16.

Edit: After work tomorrow I'm going to try some new games on a poverty spec rig that's roughly what you could get in 2006, should be entertaining at least :p

Where did you get 1080p from? :p

And read my second post, who has a PC matching the minimum spec back in 2006 for battlefield 4?

Anyone?
 
And how much would that spec PC would cost? And what kind of performance do you think it will yield if you actually install the game on it?

Do you think it will look and play better than an ps3 or 360 running the same game?

of course you need a half decent GPU nowadays, but your talking £200 to play the likes of BF4 etc on max, providing you have a half decent CPU from the last 5 years.

You can't compare on-paper specs of PCs and consoles. If you could, PS3 & Xbox 360 would have been shelved years ago.

I would say, at the start, there will be plenty of PS4 games that aren't overly impressive. Looking at the early titles of this gen, there's only a small number of good looking games. Certainly compared to recent games for the same hardware. But on the other hand, there were early xbox 360 games that people with a better spec PC just couldn't get to run as well.

The PC has partially had the problem this gen where many devs won't make much of an effort to use the extra power the PC has (or can have, depending on the PC) or if they do, they just bolt-on some extra effects. I see that problem getting much worse with this coming gen.

I'm getting a PS4, I'm also just getting to the point where I'm thinking about a new GPU so not really biased.

Not entirely sure, but I'm pretty sure the PS4 runs it at higher frame rates than the PC does :p

Yeah, we all know PCs are capable of much more than Consoles, but that doesn't really matter to most console gamers. The elitist attiude from PC gamers annoys console gamer more to be fair :p

I'm so glad the games forums are still separate, having the master race (:p) and consoles in the same section was awful in the run up to last gen launch!
