I don't get why people slate any of the Indiana Jones movies. They were never presented as factual. They were entertainment, and this is where they excelled. When you watch them you should have a willing suspension of disbelief. They are not documentary's they are fictional action/drama films.

I pity the people who watch them and then whinge about ; 'Well this bit is absurd' or 'that bit is impossible'. If you're one of these people, then you're completely missing the point of the movies. Movies like these are there for escapism. You're meant to sit down with your popcorn, forget the real world and enjoy the action. If you can't do that then your life is a shame. :confused:

In the fourth film he takes a dump in his hat...escapsim or not the fourth film does not have the charm of the first 3 :PERIOD

Raiders is in a different class to the other films as far as I am concerned. Just far more gritty and exciting. The rest have too much comedy for my liking.

The truck scene when Indy tried to steal back the Ark is one of my favourite of all time.
 
I read that HF only agreed to do the new SW film if they agreed to script a new IJ movie with him in it by a certain deadline.
The article made a point of saying, "doesn't mean a new IJ film will be made, just that a script had to be presented".
 
I never understand why people, when watching sci-fi and films like this, that they then criticise something for being unbelievable. Isn't that the point? To take us some where that is non fictitious. If i want reality, I'd stay at home.

I recall a women in the cinema moaning about the scene in Juarasic park where a girl eliminates a raptor with her gymnasium skills. Ehh You're watching a film about dinosaurs in modern times luvvv..

It's when the laws of physics get bent in a way that isn't consistent with the world they are purporting to be in. Most of Crystal Skull broadly makes some semblance of sense on the physics front, so for him to survive a nuclear explosion by hiding in a fridge sticks out like a sore thumb. Yes, we might want an unrealistic world now and again, but it needs to be internally consistent. If he can survive a nuclear blast by hiding in a fridge we might as well conclude that he has an adamantium skeleton at which point lots of threats cease to exist for him, which is at odds with the rest of the film when he appears to have things to fear.

You know what? The Lost World: Jurassic Park is a terrible film. It's not a patch on either the first film or the Crichton book on which it is based. That being said, the bit where she kicks the raptor in is stupid, but it's nothing close to as stupid as Indy in the fridge.
 
Your absolutely right von.. JPII is a terrible film but my point was not the film but the principle.. you can't say how ridiculous one thing is when the whole theme of the film is built around something as daft as dinosaurs living in a modern age.

Isn't this true for most sci-fi action films, The Bourne series, Bond films, MI, Marvel films to name a few? the laws of physics are meant to be broken for the genre. Isn't that what makes them fun and exciting.. Some of my favorite action film are as daft as brush.. but they light, easy and entertaining which hits the mark.. not how realistic some thing is..
