*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

The PS4 doesn't have Dead Rising, Forza or Titanfall. That's why I was initially going for the Xbox One over the PS4 (I'm now getting both). To some people (myself included), it's not about having the best performance, it's merely about having the games you want :)

Doing exactly the same. Right now I am looking forward to the XB1 more in the short term as none of the PS4 launch titles appeal that much but I am sure both consoles will have some belting games (as does/will my Wii U).

The bickering about specs is a nonsense really, I fully expect to be playing Zelda/Mario more over the next month than any of the XB1/PS4 games and the Wii U is only marginally more powerful than my toaster!

Shopto took the monies from my bank for launch day ps4, knack and killzone:D. I was thinking of cancelling but bought a samsung 46" 8 series in anticipation :-), not had a proper console in well over a year now :o.

Yeah what a load of nonsense from the PS4 fanboys, seems things haven't moved on at all since the ZX Spectrum/C64 playground squabbles, the Spectrum being inferior hardware didn't do too badly did it, people are obsessed with specs in this thread, TBH I can hardly notice any difference between PS4/XBox One Shots in some anandtech review and when playing a game you are supposed to be playing the game not looking for slightly better sharpness on tree's etc.

For the record I will probably pick up a PS4 when the game line up improves though the PS4 fanboys are really putting me off ever getting one to be honest and I am a big Playstation fan having bought PS1 to PS3 on launch.

People are missing the point. It's the COST... the value involved.

Why pay a chunk of cash more, for something less?

That isn't nonsense or "fanboyism", it's a cold hard set of facts.

If they would have launched at the same price, you could maybe argue a few points but right now there is just no justification at all.

Very similar when the PS3 first launched, only value in that thing was the fact it was a cheaper blu ray player.

The PS4 launch titles are absolute garbage. That's where that ends.

But when you look at the bigger picture, you can see Microsoft have no studios left and over the course of the next 2-3 years ...the Sony box will churn out more games.

Beyond Titanfall and Dead Rising 3, I can't see anything on the horizon that really interests me. With the PS4 I expect things like Last of Us 2 will start to pop up.

There are many ways of defining "value" and the way your approaching it is not how many other people do. To me the Xbox One is at the moment is better value as the games it has available for it are what I want to play, the fact that it "may" be less powerful has no bearing at all on whether I deem it to have more or less value.

Care to give me next week's Lottery numbers while you're at it?

Everything is conjecture at this point, I expect there will be more games on the PS4 but to write off the XB1 is just stupid. There are more PS2 and PS3 games than XBox and 360 games but there are also a higher percentage of junk games as well and in terms of exclusives it really comes down to personal preference. Frankly, there are enough exclusives to justify having all the current (should that be previous) gen consoles and I imagine that in time it'll be exactly the same.

I look at the XB1 as more of a work in progress, quite a lot of its unique potential hasn't been realised yet (and it might not ever be). The PS4 is a simpler offering, it has more raw power and that should translate to better graphics and more complex games but IF (big IF) Kinect improves and MS get the UI sorted then I think there will be a lot that draws people to the XB1.

Frankly it feels at the moment that a lot of people are bashing on MS purely because it's cool to do so and to justify the fact they can only buy one console and have gone for the PS4.

I want all the consoles to do well, they each bring something different and trying to declare a winner is pointless. The Wii U is likely to "lose" this generation but right now it's got some fantastic games and by March it'll have even more. In the meantime I'll still be waiting for TitanFall and Infamous to start to truly justify my XB1/PS4 purchases.

Music unlimited is rubbish. iPlayer is hardly a revolutionary feature! lol

The camera is an after thought and not being mandatory it'll never get used effectively.

The PS4 plays games. That's effectively it. A smart tv has more media functionality than it.

lolzozltollz

We are gamers we are getting the best next gen gaming console how hard is that to take?? No need for anyone to get butt hurt over people saying it.

Sony have best track record of putting out the most deserve and interesting gaming experiences period.....

Also all this media steaming karp... It been confirmed that it's coming in an early patch. Heck I bet the ps4 gets it before any of the tv stuff is sorted on the xbox1 for the UK. Was it summer for the sky stuff?

Heck you can go out and buy a cheap Bluray player or media box that will do all the above and still have change for what an xboxone costs.....

True, the PS4 launch titles are very weak, but imo there's little point in buying a console at launch anyway. Always best to wait 3-6 months.

Like you say though, long-term I can see the PS4 titles coming into their own,

Aye the line-up is quite poor, bit disappointed that Driveclub was delayed :( Was even considering the Xbone til someone slapped me in the face with a big fish :D (thanks Anandtech ;))

Settled on NFS:Rivals and the free downloadable games to tide me over Christmas at least :)

Just a small matter of finding stock now :p

You can say you're getting something less for more money, but that's not fact, that's just your opinion. To someone else, they may be more than happy to have Kinect, and they may absolutely love the Kinect integration into the UI. In that case, you can argue they're getting a much better deal with the XB1 then they'd get with the PS4 and the limited PS Eye integration.

If all you do is game, and have no interest in motion/voice controls, it seems like a no brainer to get the PS4 (unless you're a huge DR and Forza fan obviously). However, if you want something more rounded, the XB1 offers that. I don't think it's for you, me or anyone to say they're not getting value if the console offers them exactly what they want.

Well you Amazon people waiting, I hope one of you gets the gamer pack I just had to cancel!

I really wanted to get caught up in the whole console launch thing just once, but I can't afford it right now.

Have fun with your consoles guys.

Inferior hardware, costs more.

That's where it ends until MS drop the price.
