*** The Official Google Nexus 7 Thread ***

I think it's the 'Nexus 7/USB' Bug! Connected no problems to my computer at home!, just kept throwing a flid on my computer at work (it's a known problem) I managed to get it to connect 10 minutes before I left for home!

Am I confusing myself. Is the KitKat update coming to the 1st generation Nexus 7? Or is it only for the 2nd generation one and I've got my hopes up for nothing?

The only Nexus device not getting 4.4 is the original galaxy nexus phone, so it'll appear soon.

has anyone who is stock but rooted with a custom recovery updated to 4.4. If so, how did you do it and did it wipe your data?

I want to get from 4.3 with TWRP and ROOT to 4.4 with TWRP adn root ideally :) without wiping data !!!

Hey,

I did a factory reset and flashed the factory image for 4.4 - all nice and smooth, but now Bluetooth audio is messed up.

Lot of skipping and audio distortion, and the volume adjust is weirdly not linear any more?! Like I press up a few notches, and it will go up, up, down, down, down, up, or something.

Totally weird! Anyone else having similar problems?

Cheers,

Su

[edit] Just remembered that my RAZR HD on 4.1.2 does the exact same thing with the volume, and I was never able to find a solution

[edit2] I've had the KRT16S update pushed to my device - no change.

4.4 just appeared for both my nexus 4 and 7, nexus 4 upgraded fine but the 7 showed an error and it now saying no command, any ideas anyone?

Just cleared framework and 4.4 OTA came up as available.

A few people in the UK also reporting success on XDA.

The funny volume adjust behavior is probably down to the way 4.4 does bluetooth volume, it's no longer adjustable by both the bluetooth device and by going into volumes on the phone/tablet it's all controlled from the bluetooth end now.
Which is terrible as my BT earphones don't have enough preset adjustable levels for me to get it low enough to stop it deafening me and I noticed the really poor BT quality as well but just put it down to my change in phone rather than the software.
All in all they should have just left BT alone! It worked fine on my S4 and is now unusable for music listening on the go at least.

That's a bit of a worry, I use my Nexus to stream via Bluetooth to my sound system, will have to skip the update until I can get some more information on this :(

The 4.4 update has made my Nexus a bit snappier. It's also really increased the standby time for me too.
