I've got myself an i7 4770K, but I'd stick with an i5 4670K if budget restricted, but I'd choose them both first over an FX83.
I have an FX83 coming tomorrow for a lads build.

If you're happy spending £650 then you can easily get a 4770K.

, they were seasonic, cracking models. If I were budget limited I would take the FX8320 over a Core i5 4670K and put the extra cash towards the graphics cards. I would only go with a Core i5 4670K over an FX8320,if the budget is enough to get a decent card in the first place. Most reviews are using very high end cards like the R9 290X,Geforce Titan, etc,so you will be more GPU limited in reality at normal gaming resolutions. A fast CPU is not going to be much help for 90% of games if you have a rubbish graphics card. I found that has been the case for the last 11 years or so.

As it stands though the OP seems to have 'other' hardware as to reveal that the total budget could easily afford an intel setup. So in this case the 4770k is indeed the best bet.
The Frostbite Mantle not only allows GPU optimization but also boost CPU performance since very low tasks are handled by the CPU such as rendering, loading and streaming (tasked upon the GPU) so this allows perfect parallel rendering that allows utilization of upto 8 CPU cores found currently on AMD’s FX processors. This also helps avoiding potential bottlenecks for the system that may occur if the CPU is under load which in the case of Mantle won’t happen at all.
