Whos PS4 has failed so far?

I have seen a thread on the PS4 support forum about people having issues with surround sound receivers when using the HDMI pass through.

No problem here using a Yamaha RX-V671 reciever.
Tried it as normal and (switched off) pass-thru straight to my LG LM760 and it works great.

Was impressed to see DTS is supported by the PS4, and also I enabled HDMI link which worked perfectly. i.e. If I press the input on my amp it switches the PS4 on too! :)

Tis all good over here ! - pretty impressed overall now its linked to my phone and my vita aswell - remote play works very well indeed!

Well my new one arrived and works great. Very impressed with console and with Sony service.

Console turned up in a little padded plastic crate with no packaging at all. Driver handed over console to me and took mine and put back in his plastic crate.

Good job.

Contacted sony and they are swapping it on Tuesday. Pleased I will get it before my birthday now but also annoyed with myself that I didn't go direct to sony yesterday as they did a next day exchange with my ps3 back in the day.

not a DOA issue but my wife has just rung moaning the controller was nearly dead this morning? i left it plugged in with the PS4 on standby... the unit shut down no lights at all but the controller was glowing orange last time i saw it

not tried standby mode but is there not an on/off option for charging the ds4 in standby?

You need to be in standby for charging to work. There is an option to power the usb ports in standby or something.

The setting for this is in the power saving section in the settings menu.

Good to hear that people's borked consoles have been replaced so fast. Sony's just gone up a level in my books!

Glad you got yours ok and is working ok

Mines is a weird 1. Set it up and all i got was no display, with my tv telling me "mode not supported". Fiddled around with it, including trying other hdmi cables/ ports and most I could get was some background music and a slight flickering at top and bottom of screen. After nearly 2 hours I eventually got it to display in safe mode, but as soon as I again tried setting resolution to 1080p it again showed no display with "mode not supported".

Not having another tv, i resorted to taking it to my parents and trying it there. Newer LG tv and it worked 1st time with zero problems. So I am assuming it is some sort of HDCP compatibilty issue between my tv and the ps4. Tv in question is a Samsung LCD circa 2008 with no usb port so unable to update firmware. Gutted.

Update on this:

Well having got the console initialised and 1.51 downloaded at my folks last night, after work this afternoon I took console home to try again, woth little expectation of it working. I tried it in the side hdmi port (number 3), the only 1 which I hadn't previously tried. To my amazement it booted up and has worked flawlessly since. :D

So, I don't know if it was simply a case of the new software fixed some sort of compatibilty bug, or if it was as simple as only 1 of the hdmi ports recognising the ps4. Either way, I am delighted.

My mate had noisy disc drive so the shop rang sony and they got a replacement to the store next day so not too bad. Felt bad for him as we all went to midnight together and his time was wasted

All seemed to be going well. Patched, played a bit of killzone and then shut it down. Doesn't come back on though. Blue pulsating line of death. :\

Have you tried it back in the other ports that were not working before?

I've got 2 (one for Dad) and both didn't output to the TV out the box.

The TV was a 4 year old Tosh.

Resolved it myself by booting to safemode and performing a manual update to 1.51. I just left it as there was no progress bar (no output!) and after 5-10mins it rebooted and has worked ever since.

Couldn't imagine my Dad doing that :)
