Instead grab the update from xda when it becomes available.

And how would you install the update?
Would it still mean wiping the device? Redoing root/unlocking bootloader?

I've just got it setup to exactly i want it so cannot really be bother setting all system and apps up all again.

From what I've read if you have custom recovery then you will not get ota

I'm no expert though,

Have a Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848

It's for nexus 4 but you will get the idea.

Guys if I'm on stock rom and stock recovery but rooted with no mods, can I safely apply the OTA with no issues?

No, OVA would unroot your device so it is blocked I believe, what I normally do is just wait for the XDA update and install that, they normally come rooted so one less thing to worry about.

Does 4.4.1 address the speaker / headset issues ?

I've just installed it on my phone and the speaker is MUCH louder... it's almost unbelievable how loud it is now in comparison to what it was. I was sure it was hardware, apparently not.

Just played about with the camera in low light in my room. Focus is pretty much instant, camera starts up much faster. The couple of shots I did take had perfect focus and were really very good.

All in all impressions of the update so far is that it seems much better then expected.

Nice.! Wasn't expecting the speaker to increase.

Just waiting for AndyCr15 to do a SPL Meter test :)

Camera seems quicker for me as well. Possibly a little quicker opening, but not massively. However the focusing is a lot quicker, and FAR more reliable. I'm getting much more success in focusing, even in a very dark room.

Before it would fail quite frequently, even in good conditions. Not a single failure so far!
