*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

Don't forget that it's a lot easier to damage a screen protector than it is to damage the screen. So just because something scratched the protector, doesn't mean it would have definitely scratched the actual screen,

But yeah, if you've got the phone in an environment where it's likely to need it, for the sake of a few pounds you might as well.

I currently work on a site built on sand. My car seems to get a good sand blasting and I always land up with it in my pocket! So perhaps a good idea?

In which regard? In a lot of ways the N5 camera has always been ahead of the S4's camera, especially so in any low light photos.

In terms of the actual camera software, the Nexus's app is very bare compared to the S4, and doesn't offer all the special effects that the S4 offers, but this may or may not matter to you. In the time I had the S3 and then the S4, I only used one of the features once, so it wasn't a loss to me at all.

Regarding speed, the update improved the speed (camera opening times, focusing time, and picture taking speed) greatly, and must be very similar to the S4/

My decision is between the s4 (gt-i9506 snapdragon 800) or the N5. The nexus is however over £100 cheaper than the i9506! All that matters with the camera is that should I want to take a picture whilst out of my two year old doing something I can do so!

I've found the 4s good for a quick shot, but bloody irritating that I have to mess around to get photos off of it!

Really? I would have said it's never been easier. Install Dropbox (or Copy, or Google+ for that matter) and photo's are automatically uploaded when you take one, automatically downloaded when you start your PC. You can quite literally take a photo, turn to you PC and open it up to look at it.

You're just the person I'd like to answer this :

Galaxy S4 whether it be i9505 or i9506 or the nexus 5? Non expandable storage and a fixed battery don't thrill me much but I'm wondering which is the better all round phone?

Thanks :)

It honestly comes down to you Mike. Both have their perks.

Nexus 5 in general is faster feeling, everything feels so instant on the N5. Camera on both are extremely comparable, not sure which out and out wins. Nexus 5 probably takes the better photos in low light. Nexus 5 will also give you immediate access to the latest version of Android for the next couple of years.

On the other hand the S4 has removable battery and SDcard storage. The Nexus 5 battery life is actually pretty damn good, it should always last a full day even under heavy'ish use however if you feel you will often need more juice and 32GB of storage isn't enough for you then you should probably seriously consider the S4.

That's the problem though, what is best for one, doesn't mean it's the best for others.

I chose the N5 over the S4 because it's just so damn slick. (Quick, responsive, smooth etc) SD cards really aren't an issue for me. I don't carry movies around on my phone and why would I ever need more than a gig of music on it at any one time?

There's almost nothing else between the two in my opinion.

n5 is really really quick.. I never got the "omg iPhones are so smooth" because the ones I played with seemed to have delay in things I did anyway so I couldn't really understand the moaning that android felt slow.. but nexus 5 jezz.. this thing flies!

Side loaded to 4.4.1 but had a hell of a job getting the USB drivers to install on win 8.1.

Same, I had so many windows and tabs open having to grab little tips and bits of tutorials how to do stuff. Kept getting the 'device not recognised' over and over till I realised I had to manually install the USB drivers. Bit off a ball ache and thought bout doing my own tutorial cos most say the list of things to do, but not detailed how to do each part so had to Google each bit separately... Got there in the end though :-)

Have to agree with this. The Nexus 5 is the fastest phone i have ever had my hands on.

My N10 used to feel "instant" to me, but now i've used a Nexus 5, the N10 now feels slow and laggy (strange really lol)

Ive got a lg g2 but thinking of giving it my sister for xmas and getting myself a 32gb n5, what have i got look out for when buying the phone as for the lg it had to be the D802 version.
