Hard to get most at bargain prices, really. I tend to check Amazon, Games Lore and IGUK.
Personally I'm a fan of really competetive strategy games, and on that note I should recommend Game of Thrones and Chaos in the Old World.
Chaos in the Old World for groups of 4, while Game of Thrones requires 6 players to be optimal.
Kickstarted Chthulhu Wars early this year, rather sad that it won't arrive in time for christmas.

Yeah I spent quite a ridiculous amount on that!
What level did you go for?
I went for Cult de Gaoules, got the early bird 1! Added on the high cultist expansion pack as I simply want another unit in the game, will get the other factions at some later point if I like the game. 5 factions should do me fine anyway to start with, hardly ever get more than 4 players...

I like the idea around the game, but having played it twice - no more. The game takes around six hours to play, but with the time spent waiting while others um, er, decide where they are going to march, if they want to march, and which card they want to use in battle, I only ever ended up playing the game for about 2 of those six hours while the other 4 were spent waiting for things to happen that would have little to no influence on me.
Really? In my experience it is a rather fast paced game since everyone essentially take their turns at the same time. And if someone took more than 10 seconds to decide their battle card I'm pretty sure I would have to reach over and slap them.

Managed to pick up the fathers day special Cultes Des Goules level when they opened up the super high levels. The miniatures look so good that while it's really expensive, it's something very special.
Maybe it's just the group I play with, but that said that's why I tried it out a second time, with different people, and still came to the same conclusion.
There's lots of thinking around the cards since the played cards are common knowledge, and the thinking between what possible cards the opponent has available, and then which one they are likely to use, therefore which one you should use, and so on.

Personally I don't find co-op games work that well with two but Forbidden Desert and Pandemic are both recommended.

Get Forbidden Desert as well. Great game and even more of o challenge.

I love X-Wing Miniatures, I like Netrunner and Star Wars: The Card Game but after that the shear length and complexity of most FFG games really starts to annoy me. This is coming from a die-hard euro gamer.
Pah, FFG and their 'Ameritrash' games can't compete with the chits, cubes and discs from such euro classics as Agricola, Terra Mystica, Nations, Russian Railroads and the daddy of all games with lots of bits - Caverna.

I didn't find Terra Mystica too component heavy. Agricola, I can agree with though. Most wargames are particularly counter-heavy (TS & Labyrinth as my points of reference).
However, in FFG's favour (for component heaviness, which is now a competition it seems...), I'm currently making a box inlay for Sid Meier's Civilization. It's proving to be a nightmare to fit all the components in the damn box. My previous effort for BSG was a cinch by comparison...
Finally played some 2 player games this weekend:
Memoir 44 -it's a simple strategy game with a surprising amount of depth - games are quick, which is a huge bonus.
Android Netrunner - only played two games of this (once as hacker and once as the corp). I'll need a few more games of this as i'm not yet feeling the love for this, but I did like the asymmetric gameplay.

If your enjoy your two-player strategy, get a hold of Summoner Wars. It's fantastic.
