I loved the book but plainly the movie strays from the background of the source material to accommodate Cruise. That I can live with. I was just worried that a few elements of dialogue undermined the central premise that only he remembers and she never does (in his loop). It looks quite good and Cruise rarely produces a turkey here's hoping it's at least half as good as the book.
Saw this trailer the other day. Glad to see some more mecha stuff from Japan being remade by Hollywood (even though Pacific Rim was awful). I do think it was a massive mistake to cast Cruise in this as I am sick of him now, especially in Sci-Fi films. He always plays the same character. They should have cast some unknown. Also, he's too old to play what seems to be a recruit.
And how convenient that the other soldier that had the loop thing happen to them is an attractive woman rather than some random guy.
I like Cruise. Ignoring all the private life and Scientology nonsense, he's got an impressive number of good movies behind him, and he's a decent actor. I'd rather have him making decent SF movies, than those movies not being made at all.
Going by the trailer I'm not convinced with the casting of Emily Blunt as the character is a Spec-Ops type and sadly Emily just doesn't look tough enough for that role. I hope when the movie comes out I'm proved wrong as I think she's quite a good actor.
The rest looks like it'll be a really fun movie though!
Well its only following the novel, given that the character of Rita is a woman there. Emily Blunt has got herself looking incredibly athletic for the role.
Tom Cruise is loving a bit of Sci Fi these days. Hopefully this doesn't turn out to be some weird dream state after a car crash where he keeps hallucinating random s***.
I'm loving this... it looks really good. It looks like the next call of duty vs the Matric Robots AI squiddies but still....
Tom cruise is a douche but tbh he is fairly competent and played the gritty sci-fi role countless times very very well.
the 6th of June release date and Dday ww2 stuff might grate on a few people, but it certainly looks liek the opening part of the film will be a full on invasion of Normandy all over again but this time in VTOL quadrotor Osprey things. IT BETTER BE!!!
I guess this is the film ive been waiting for since Starship troopers met the FPSMMO planetside!!
Im sure it will be awful but im looking forward to this...
