Too high of a screen res?

I play 1440p with the scale at 100% all the time, I can only go to high settings if I want a stable 60fps.

Change around some settings such as mesh / shadows /reflections. AA especially, check your settings in Nvidia control panel too! I had my global settings set to force MSAA8x :P

Its all about the fine tune from here, don't forget there are updates/optimisations and driver releases to come so you might find you can activate more in the future. If you can live with high settings for now you will still be at a better clarity than 1080p thanks to your native resolution.

Try:
Mesh quality - High
Lighting quality - High
Effects quality - Ultra
Terrain decoration - High
Texture filtering - Ultra(Or high)
Texture quality - Ultra

with a mix of AA/Post process and hopefully 2xMSAA if you can, report back :)

Also OP there is a good chance you go SLI you WILL want to get a 120-144hz screen probably with Gsync, it will eliminate tearing, reduce your need to go with Vsync (Which you shouldn't be using at all EVER especially in an online FPS game) and allow you to actually make use of a 2nd card (Or be left with lots of OTT FPS that your screen cant use probably why you get tearing without Vsync now)

Does a 770 really sit at 60fps full ultra? (1080)

I would have thought it would. I have had to run it on a single 670 instead of using sli due to the flickering problem today and I was surprised as to how well it ran on just the one card ( full ultra 1080p)

You should have stuck with the 280x if it was for playing bf4. 8pack on here has said the gains from mantle are very nice. If the gains are big enough the 280x may even have comparible performance to the cards above like the gtx780/290.

To late now though and i don't think the 2gb gtx770 is a great option to sli at 1440p. If i were you i would be looking at getting a gtx780 as Nvidia is your preference.

my 670 4gb plays ultra absolutely fine, 60FPS or above clocked at 1202/7008. so yes a 770 can ultra it up.

It's like double the price for a 780 which is more than I'd like to spend on a card at one time really... I mean I could sell the 770 and upgrade to one 780 but whats the point with the 800 series due soon.

I can report that:

Texutre quality : Ultra
Texture filtering : Ultra
Lighting quality : Ultra
Effects quality: Ultra
Post processing quality: Ultra
Mesh quality: Ultra
Terrain Quaility : Ultra
Terrain Decoration : Ultra
AA Deferred : Off
AA Post : High
Ambient Occlusion : HBAO

I get around 60FPS but I do drop to 53fps when stuff gets fancy on the maps.

Hi again, using a 2560x1440 + Sli 4GB 670, no problems using even 1 4GB GPU, downloading BF4 as l type.

If BF4 is still buggee will just use 1 GPU, try letting Nvidia Gaming Experience optimize your game. At 1440res you do not need some of the settings on like Ultra or even on.

Give it ago Nvidia Gaming Experience and see what you think.

You picked a bad time to try the game out mate. It currently has a rather bad bug with SLI/Crossfire that makes the textures flicker. It might give you a fit. :p

Hopefully they will fix it soon. Its fixed in the next patch, not sure when thats going to be released though.

thanks for clarifying your settings used .

Imao, cheers Lt for that, but the Boss paid for it out of my money .

No wonder she was laughing when she gave me the keys for origin.

There are plenty of tools which will display VRAM usage in game.

I agree with LtMatt here that at 1440p you're getting close to the limit of what you can do with 2GB of Ram when using ultra quality textures and 4x AA.

However, this seems to be something different and almost sounds like heat/power issues or something else. Lots to check on which can partly be done with the above tools which monitor the graphics card. Hwmonitor for the rest of the system.

Hwmonitor recently helped me determine why my machine was shuting down or locking up the system after protracted periods of running the gpu hard. I cool my CPU with an H100 and saw temps hitting 120C somewhere in the system. That was my motherboard VRMs then.
