5 wraps with .2 kanthal around 2mm silica was the sweet spot for me, came out around 1.8ohms. Get you self a multimeter if you are building you own coils, can pick one up from fleabag for 3 quid.
Never used a multimeter, do I just place the two needles to the coil itself while it's screwed to the battery and measure? This would do, right? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DIGITAL-L..._Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item2c6b04b30d
I used 1.5mm Ekowool with 0.2mm Kanthal wire.
Put a pin down the middle of the Ekowool and sealed one end with tape, also boiled the ekowool for 20 mins and then burned it with a lighter, then wrapped the kanthal around the ekowool (already on the pin to keep it straight). Once it looked ok I slip the pin out and removed the tape / measured resistance etc. came out about 1.8ohm for 4 wraps of 0.2mm Kanthal wire. Bit fiddly but not really difficult. Just need good lighting and steady hands.
Cool, I'll get Ekowool. Watched a video last night, some guy did the same, he had ekowool, says it's really strong and good to work with, and he also burned it straight from the pack with a lighter to tighten the binds and stop it fraying. He didn't boil it though.
Merlin5, as above, I usually use .2 kanthal A1, bought a spool of it ages ago that will probably last me into 2024I don't really use EVODs anymore, been exclusively dripping. 2mm was my weapon of choice for silica, then I found cotton. Pure cotton wool walks all over synthetic wicks IMO
Looks like .2 kanthal is where it's at then.
