I'm wondering if anyone can offer some advice to a n00b?!!

Basically my missus wants to cut down on how much she smokes and spends a week. It isn't that high and she spends about £20 a week and about 70 cigs smoked a week.

She has tried e-cigs (http://www.e-lites.co.uk/) but didn't like them so now she wants to try the ones where you can change flavours etc.

Is there an ideal starter kit? Or can anyone recommend a good purchase for her to try it out?

Thanks. :)

Sooooooo? :D

My above post was actually about a thread on an Aussie vapers forum where one of the states are proposing even more serious measures than the EU.
There is a question and answer correspondence from a poster and a member of the authorities, where she destroys his arguments against e-cigs :)

When are all these so-called authorities going to stop coming up with pathetic excuses to ban or control vaping and finally admit its all about the tax they are losing , suppose hell will freeze over first.

If you are going to get a mechanical mod and get into coiling, you owe it to yourself to buy the Sentinel M16 brass clone from FT for £10. I've been using mine daily and it's perfect. 18350 mode is tiny, 18650 if you need all day vaping.

Think I will stick with the protank 2 for a bit, I have got some wire/wicks and a multimeter so I can recoil the heads. I am still interested in getting a mech mod clone and a kick from Fasttech, at least you know they are fake and they do not have parts which will fail such as buttons or PCB on the vamo etc. Is a mech mod reasonably simple to use and unlikely to explode in my face if I make a bad coil?

Hmm looking at reviews it seems basically everything on fasttech is probably fake, even the labelled "authentic" products are probably not from the manufacturer.

They are very cheap, but I do not think they are the same product you would get from the manufacturer if you purchased direct.... for example "innokin SVD" would probably be made by some random chinese factory which is not actually innokin. Might be wrong but they do seem to be calling things "authentic" even when they are actually not lol.

At least with the mech mods you know they are fake but they do not have any parts which will break such as dodgy buttons or PCB's from a factory that are making identical clones with lower QC.

Fasttech get their Innokin products from a third party supplies. I have the SVD, MVPv2 and VTR from them which are all perfectly genuine. None of them have been cloned yet.

FT have removed the word 'Innokin' from their product listings as Innokin don't like their pricing. FT will also cut out part of the manual which would give information leading to their third party supplier.

The only Innokin product that has been 'cloned' as far as I'm aware, is the 134 but the clone is a mech mod so it's not hard to tell the difference.

I think they might have realised how blatantly corrupt and wrong it is to completely ban ecigs while allowing tobacco companies to produce them, also how hard it would be to enforce a ban on the products, so hopefully they will leave it alone now.

But a 3rd party supply would not be genuine then? They would have different quality control and maybe lower grade components?

Is it better than the chi you and nemesis clones?

You can use the Protank on a mech like the Sentinel, might need a 510 to eGo adaptor, but they are cheap as chips. As for the exploding part, make sure any mech you buy has vent holes and don't make bad coils, that's what the multimeter is for :p

The biggest bonus from moving away from eGo batteries as far as I'm concerned is durability. I've snapped a couple of eGo batteries in my pocket etc, whereas this Sentinel, you could beat someone to death with it in long mode :p

E: haven't tried either of those, so can't say. By all accounts it's better than the original at less than one tenth the price though :p avoid the aluminium version though, alu sucks donkey balls for threading

They're made by Innokin, bought by a supplier, bought then sold by Fasttech. They are no different to Innokin products bought elsewhere, bar the manual being cut.

Hi Footslayer - surprised no one answered you yet!

For a total starter your missus would probably want something like this:

http://www.vapeland.co.uk/ego-t-ce4-mini-starter-kit-650mah-309-p.asp

With that kit, all you basically need to do is add the juice. As with everything though, the more you spend the better the experience. For what I would subjectively say is a much better vape, she would be better off getting a Kanger Evod Kit - http://www.vapeland.co.uk/kanger-evod-kit---black-650mah-525-p.asp

Personally, I use Scope's ejuice - http://www.scopesejuice.co.uk/ - a bit more expensive than your average e-juice but the taste is so much nicer and smoother.

For a 70-cigs-a-week smoker she'll probably want the 18mg liquid, moving up to 24mg if she finds it's not strong enough.

Hope that helps :)

Yes. I've got an SVD, MVPv2, VTR, several iclear30 clearos from FT. All genuine.

Ok thanks, I prob just get a SVD then as I am too much of a noob to be messing around with the mech mod clones as it looks like there is a lot of stuff you have to do to make them work properly, eg. mod the switches, drill the air holes, mod the kick to fit etc etc. Just want something that works well and is not too much effort just to get it working properly.

That is a big help, thank you very much :)

The SVD is a nice device. Very well built. I'd go for the full kit as you get the long tube with it. The long tube looks better than the short telescopic tube in 18650 mode IMO.

There are 2 on fasttech... I think one has the tube and one doesn't? Definitely want to be able to use the 18650 batteries.

Do they both work with 18650 batteries? Why does everything to do with vaping have to be some complicated!

What the difference with the long and short tube if they both work with all batteries? :S

Bit silly that you cannot get the good tube (long one) without buying a kit, I already have a tank etc.

You can buy the long tube elsewhere. Here it's around £10 including shipping. I don't know whether this tube is authentic though.

There's no real need for it though so if the express kit (the FT one you linked to) is right for your budget, get it! :)
