And why do you think that the DM panders to a majority opinion? The DM isn't read by 50%+ of the population and the political party that it supports hasn't won 50%+ of the votes in a general election since the 1930s.

Not everyone reads a paper so of course DM isn't read by 50%
But the table above shows the spread of readership.
I'd assume the top half are all the readers who find muslims odd and the bottom half the ones which welcome the cultural enrichment. If that corresponds pro rata to the population of the UK then it seems most people will find muslims an odd people (or at least that will be the main spin on all the stories they read)
