Good stuff, Jerez is only about an hour away from me, so will probably be heading up a couple of days, waiting for driver test days to be announced.

We're flying in to Malaga and then staying in Jerez. We'll be there for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday . Disappointing about Lotus but good to see that at least McLaren and Mercedes will be there.

Is there anything stopping lotus from bolting the 2014 tyres onto their 2013 car? With the (presumably) quite large change in construction to cope with the major torque increase you would have thought that every team would bite your arm off for a chance to test the tyres even if it was on the 2013 car

F1 testing 2014 Sky Coverage

Ok, heard back earlier today.

There are currently NO plans for live coverage on the F1 channel. Current plans are as follows:

Daily Live updates on Sky Sports News.
Ted will do a notebook every evening on First and Third test on the F1 Channel and no doubt this will be available online too.
It's expected there will be a daily 15 minute wrap every test on the F1 Channel but this is TBC
Live trackside commentary on Sky.com or skysports.com website plus picture galleries.

I'm a little sad about the lack of live coverage but I suspect Jerez is going to be cold and possibly even wet so they won't get much useful running done at all. The second and third tests will be where the meat of the testing is done as it'll be warmer and drier.

Quite a few teams never bothered to attend the Pirelli test late last year. I expect there is little benefit in runnning the tyres on 2013 chassis' given how fundamentally different they are from the 2014 cars. Plus its cost and man time spent on a test that could be better spent in the factory or out finding sponsors.

Kevin Magnussen has chosen No. 20 as his driver number. It's the number he won the WSR with last year.

It is a shame a dedicated channel, who cares if its boring. One day f1 might embrace TV and TV technology.

Even if Sky were allowed to show it (pretty sure FIA / FOM don't allow it), I doubt they would as the amount of viewers would be tiny and not worth it. Cheaper to just do a round up and post it online as well.
