yeah you dont need to see the screen, to get in to download mode just switch it off, hold down and power until it vibrates, give it a few seconds then press up. Then connect it to the pc (with odin running on the pc) and odin should pick it up. The instructions are all there in the link i posted previously, including links to stock roms.

As for will it wipe everything....not sure tbh! even a full wipe from recovery doesnt fully wipe everything. I dont actually know how to fully wipe the phone lol

In the end my insurance covered it and are sending a new phone out on tuesday with a jiffy bag for my old phone............

Once i have a new one they can do what they like with the old:)

so these new phones can still be rooted, flashed with philz recovery and then flashed with a custom rom? im not bothered about warranty as im covered by insurance now:) admitedly its £75 a pop but still:)
 
hi noticed recently on my s4 that while playing music would phone just freeze and restart itself. anyone else having this issue and if so have you found a solution
 
so my new phone should be here in minutes............

Anyone care to tell me how to root a brand new one and get philz recovery on it and then which new rom to flash as i believe the new ones are a bugger to do where as my old one was easy peasy.??

if you want to keep your warranty you cant root them or flash a custom rom on them know... there is security software called KNOX which triggers when you root etc.. which voids warranty.... there is no work around yet
 
yes im aware of that on these newer phones but previous s4 was a old bootloader and i didnt change it. My new ones just arrived so i will post back the bootloader.

not worried about warranty to be honest as i have private insurance

if you haven't got knox already then never ever update officially. Just do it via ROMs on XDA, as far as I can tell someone always gets the latest ROMs and strips the bootloader bit out, there's no sense in flashing something just to be first when it'll unnecessarily knacker your warranty.

Don't get me wrong, if I wound up with a knox enabled S4 I'd still unlock it, and no doubt the S5 will have it and again it won't stop me but if you can avoid it you may as well.

Not sure what you mean mate.

Triangle away indeed reset the flash counter. But nobody has been able to make a reset tool for the KNOX Counter.

Pretty much, yeah. It has some extra stuff as well, but the main issue is just the flag tripping and voiding the warranty, without being able to be reset :mad:.
 
I want to flash Omega ROM on my brothers phone which is currently at stock however I can't remember where to start. Do I just need to root the phone and then follow the instructions for Omega?
