Never to early to start gaming...

To be safe I would encourage something else, mario galaxy or similar. Although from what the OP has said I don't think it would do the child any harm at all.

I'm astounded by your sons skills though!

You know what, there is more direct violence in Mario (jumping on creatures heads etc) than there is in the way he plays BF2!!!

Ok would you show him cannibal holocaust

You are comparing (arguably) one of the most controversial films, which has gratuitous violence, cannibalism, the real life killing of animals, and sexual violence... with Battlefield 2?

Do you think he is old enough to determine that he is playing as a soldier, and his objective is to kill other soldiers? Or do you think he just enjoys running around?

The way he plays, which by the way is for maybe 5 minutes in any one sitting as he is more interested in running about, there is no violence, it's on single player with the bots set on easy. At very most he stumbles across a lone soldier and follows him about. Even if by chance he stumbles across any action, there is no blood, no swearing, nothing explicitly violent in any way unless you count people falling over.

I wouldn't let him play if there was anymore more graphic than he might see in the local park, eg boys shooting imaginary guns and failing over, that is all there is to BF2 at his age!

He is developing his hand eye coordination and enjoying being in control of what is moving on the screen.

Agreed, I wasn't allowed to play on violent games til I was older, so subsequently I amassed a very large collection of toy guns. It's become one of my interests.

GD is the court of the internet, where you shall be judged! And you shall be nuked from orbit by benefit scrounging false widows!

Wait... it's not?! :confused::eek::confused::eek:
Surely that's worse? He'll start smashing up people's houses with pickaxes and digging holes in people's gardens?

Ya know I should start a thread entitled,
Do you think video games, films and music heavily influence children. :D:D:D

They'll always be a load of Mary Whitehouse types when it comes to video games, I remember bay in the early 90s when a group of mums complained that Lemmings should be banned because it glorified suicide.

What's his favourite Class? I suppose sniping brings the risk of nodding off and drooling everywhere.

Tend to stick him on as Support otherwise he runs out of ammo too quickly (he likes the noise of the gun) and gets annoyed.

Impressive coordination from a 2 year old!

Yeah, I was pretty impressed.

Wow, he's better than me :p.

I have a feeling it won't be long before he's better than me!! ;)

Lol, got to love such types...

irresponsible parent, 16+ game.

Yawn...

At age two he doesn't yet understand the whole concept of violence and when he is a bit older and more aware then we shall ensure that he only plays on suitable games, at present he is just running around and getting to grips with controls and getting hand eye co-ordination.

Good intentions: but at that age they can store things they don't understand now, only for them to rear their ugly head later. A caveat from my own experiences!

I haven't played the game though so will leave the judging to the rest of the board members. ;)

Kids have been playing with toy soldiers for hundreds of years. The game is basically a virtual toy soldiers game.
