Never to early to start gaming...

It's important that infants develop hand/eye coordination but I don't think that playing video games at 2 years old would be a choice that all parents would be comfortable with.

I'm a pretty serious PC gamer who has hopes of one day playing games with my son, and him training up from a young age to become a top player, but even I can't see myself putting him on that type of game before he's in school.

To be safe I would encourage something else, mario galaxy or similar. Although from what the OP has said I don't think it would do the child any harm at all.

I'm astounded by your sons skills though!

But then he'll think it's fine to jump on the dogs head all the time rabble rabble rabble .

More like not long before hes calling you a noob and pwning you online!

That's harmless fun!

Back in the day when wireless was a pipe dream you would launch the wired rectangle gaming controller at your family member enemy after a good thrashing in whatever game :D

I've only just let my 6 yr old start to play a few games such as Sonic and Minecraft but I wouldn't be comfortable letting her have a go with BF2.

Nice skills though.

My sons 5 now and has seen me use an xbox pad since he was 2 he has now started on racing game's and is quite good at them hes just finished need for speed by him self

Games can help a great deal with the hand eye development .. as for playing bf2 cant comment on that my lads not seen me play those kind of games

I have to say I believe this whole "playing violent video games makes you a serial killer" trend at the moment is total BS.... However, at 2 kids are like sponges, they learn to copy right and wrong.

My boys are 4 now, I let them play a little bit of Forza, Fifa and Mario/Kart and that is it - plus that is limited to a max of ~30-40mins a day if they have been good. I am a massive BF3/4 fan but wait till they go to bed to play.

As much as anything, rather than playing computer games I like to sit with them, do jigsaw puzzles, build lego, play hungry hippo, take them to the park and let them learn to enjoy being young.

I sent this link to my wife @ work. She teaches 4 and 5 year olds.

She instantly said that the OP is doing WRONG, because in her experiance when a child is exposed to these games they decide its fine to be violent to other children when at play.

Normal play is chasing each other, involving toys in a non threatening manor. But when a child picks up a stick and pretends its a gun and then hits the other kids with it when pretending to "knife" kill them its a big NO NO. And why do they do this? because their parents let them play games at a young age that were not made for them to play.

OP, You are letting your future child down mate, When he gets in trouble at school for being violent then its on your head.

Ok would you show him cannibal holocaust? if he yet doesn't understand he wont be fazed them according to you. Whilst yes he wont fully understand he will grow up thinking its ok to shoot a person in the face for no reason. Like someone else said get him minecraft on peaceful.

While I'm not exactly in favour of very young children playing potentially violent games, this is a stupid comparison.

As for posting this in GD... oh boy!

Messy desk with a box of man size tissues in easy reach :p

To what the post was originally talking about maybe let him play games but more suited to his age? No harm in playing the computer I think but there are ways to manage the use better.
