What film did you watch last night?

The secret life of Walter Mitty

7/10 - I wasn't sure what to expect before I started watching this, but it turned out to be a really good film

I havent seen this movie, but I'm sure I have seen this movie get VERY low ratings on this forum. I'm sure some people have given this 0 or 1 out of 10.

It's all subjective, I guess.

A rough average of past reviews here would probably put this somewhere around 6 or 7 out of ten. I personally thought it was very good. How about watching it yourself and giving us your own opinion?

Its always subjective all depends what genre etc people like. I think its an extremely good story, that once choice changes so many peoples lives and is basically showing three films in how that choice changes those lives. Which I found not only a great story, but very well done and reasonably unique in the film world. It gets 7.4 on IMDB for comparison.
But then again I generally ignore other peoples reviews unless I know they generally rate films in a similar way to me.

12 Years A Slave - I'd give this a slightly higher score as it is a good movie however the issue that let me down is the god darnit accents, I found it a weeall struggle to understand half of what those darn 'mericans from the deep south was saying. 6/10

I wouldn't watch it again and after seeing all the rave reviews about it I felt sorely misled. Barely oscar winning performances.

Watched the following three films:

Rush - Fantastic film, even if you're not a F1 fan. Ron Howard has done an amazing job and Daniel Brühl should really be up for an Oscar for his performance as Niki Lauda. 9/10

Last Vegas - Good comedy, with a nice feel to it. It stars Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas and Kevin Kline, who all bring a unique style to the film. It's a bit deeper than seeing the film as a old version of The Hangover. 7/10

American Hustle - Started off slow but slowly get's you engrossed. Yes it's a tad longer than it should be but they had to cram all the stars in to the film. Excellent performances and Amy Adam's dresses should be up for an oscar themselves :) 8/10

Went a bit film mad this weekend.

Escape plan 8/10, good action and a decent story line, i like stallone and arnold together.

Lone survivor 9/10, thought it was brilliant, mark whalberg does good in yet another film.

12 years a slave, 10/10. this film had me hooked from the start, brilliant story and so well written.

Don jon 9/10, loved the story, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson were brilliant.

Here Comes The Devil - 2/10

Sometimes you can find a real gem with foreign films (this one is Spanish) but unfortunately this is not one of them.
Basically two kids go missing then come back after a while but they are not the same and so strange stuff starts happening.
It sounds good on paper but it is low budget, poorly done and about as scary as Bambi.

The two girls going at it at the start of the film ensure this doesn't receive a 0/10 :p

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2

Holy ADHD Batman!

This film is bonkers, with so much going on all the time. I know Terry Crews is one of the voices, and this is like a feature length version of his Old Spice adverts.

Some proper lol moments, and possibly the cutest animated character in history, but also overly frenetic and disjointed. Would be amazing on psychedelics!

6/10

Miller's Crossing. Noir-y gangster film, one of the Coen's early films. The noir thing overtakes it to an extent, so pretty much everyone is chewing the scenery throughout. There isn't much emotion to it... It's very businesslike. Rival gangs, double crosses, yada yada, but very little actual feeling.

Well made, and some nice music, but nothing spectacular.

Pretty much this, the first 30 mins played out like a silly comedy almost but when it finally got into the swing of things it was great.
