8K - something interesting

135 will have sensible miles though

Just been for a test drive and it was ****ing incredible.Wow!!

Manual box was crap and hard to reach with me banging arm against armrest constantly so the 8speed auto with manually flappy paddles will be best (driving one Wednesday). Brakes ok, a bit spongey vs mine (shock ;)), but stop well enough from warp 9.

Love the Teg to bits, but maybe it's time to strip and turn it into a Highland/Knockhill hooning whore.

There's a lot right with the 135i and the things that it doesn't have over the Teg would detract from what actually makes it great. 8 speed in Blue with the top sound package would do me.

If I was going BMW, it would be an E46. I just don't feel that my budget would allow me to get a car I would be happy with.

Spanish 325ti to smoke about in over winter? Ugly as **** but it does what it says on the tin, 200bhp with a hatch.

If its any consolation I went through this phase before I eventually found my S2000. Bide your time, they do come up.

As for alternatives, try out a 350z as they seem like they would fit the bill.

To go bit left field, how about an MX5 with some change to go FI?

Around an hour seat time. About thirty mins per and post facelift. Never driven a post 06 car though so that is on the agenda if there is one close.

If you are referring to an S2000 pre and post facelift... 2006 wasn't the only major change to the S2000 for interior/exterior/handling.

Pretty much every 2 years during its life there were changes that affected those 3 categories. Be it wheels/interior/exterior or handling differences due to suspension revisions (There were lots).

Pre 2006 cars are cable not drive by wire throttle, which IMO was a lot nicer to drive and felt more... connected.

I drove about 10 cars in my search, and tried to drive several from each revision I wanted.

I could afford any of them, including a brand spanker, but I found a MY00 that I felt handled the best and went for that.

If I was you, and you really, really want a good one, you need to be posting a 'wanted' thread on S2KI and go from there. Problem is, most people aren't selling at the moment as the prices take a battering in winter. You might need to be willing to pay 'summer prices' to secure the right car. There are so many dogs out there now that have been poorly maintained that I'd find it difficult to buy one now, which is a real shame as I loved mine.

Wait for the right S2000. Don't fanny around with an Alfa or Golf:p

Well yeah personally if it's an S2000 I wanted I'd just get one of those.

Wanting one in a rarer colour means it will be more of a wait for one, either compromise on the colour of just wait it out ;)

GT. Hardtop. Facelift. 06+ if possible. Stock. Sensible miles. Interesting colour.

Why are you limiting so much with the GT requirement?

GT can sometimes lower your insurance premium but that's it.

Any S2000 can be a GT with the addition hardtop fittings (Loom and fixings are in the non GT models) and AFAIK the GT has zero differences other than that + coming with a hard top.

Orange - Good luck, pretty much no chance. Very rare colour along with Lime Green and Deep Burgundy. Yellow is not exactly common either.

Porche needed some turf after some rabbits dug up my lawn, jacked up the zed grabbed a few handfuls and the ultimate driving experience spilled over onto my lawn!

Oddly I drove Past the spot of crashed and was heartened to see a brand spanking new gt3 Porsche half way up the bank with a tree added to the bonnet, goes to show ;-)

My S2000 wasn't a GT. It's quite easy to get the hardtop roof to stay on. Even without the fitting kits.
Also. If you buy a non GT and budget about £500 for the kit (there's a kit on ebay for £475) then that broadens your choices.

Two things:

a) Colour. Yea, so what? I would understand holding out for the best S2000 colour. But I do not understand buying a completely different car in a different colour entirely to the one you really want because you can't find an orange one or something. It's not as if your £8k Evo or whatever will be Orange, is it?

b) Hardtops. Hardtops are rubbish. They should only be used if you want to keep your convertible on the road in an area where you feel its a bit risky. Otherwise, no hardtops.

The roof on a convertible should be used like an umbrella. If its raining, put it up. At all other times, roof down. Even if its 2c outside on a crisp morning, get that roof down. Thats the great thing about a convertible, you don't need to be sitting in blazing sunshine to enjoy it. There are hundreds of opportunities every year for top down fun almost whatever the weather. As soon as you introduce a stupid hardtop into equation you lose the ability to quickly drop the hood.
