What film did you watch last night?

Lone Survivor - 7/10. It's a good film but the book far surpasses it. Both in depth but also in explaining the background to things/decisions.

It is no wonder that Luttrell has such a dislike of the 'liberal' media though.

Find it amusing that the advert boldly declares "Mark Walhberg" only. What happened to all the other pretty well known actors?!

I'll bet that's why it's tipped for big things at the Oscars as well
Agreed, I'm yet to see all of the top contenders for best picture but I've seen American Hustle and 12 Years a slave so far and the latter definitely surpasses the former imho. 9/10 for slave and an 8 for american

Oh and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Watched it for the second time, as I really wanted to make sure that i'd grasped every bit of the plot. Really enjoyed, would probably give it an 8.5/10

Watched a couple recently.

The Dallas Buyers Club : the mconnaissance continues. Matthew McConaghey acts his heart out as Ron Woodruff. Solid movie. Well worth a watch. 10/10

A.C.O.D. Adult Children of Divorce. It's got some actors I like such as Catherine O'Hara but it's let down by a poor script. 4/10

Felt like nothing happened until an hour in though

I just watched Catching Fire. I thought it was very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the final installment. Are they splitting up the last part like the rest of hollywood?

I see what you mean about teh first hour, but they need to show how the film has progressed from the last, unfortunately they don't really take liberties by actually showing what's going on. It's all done via catnip's POV which is a shame because we could have had proper rioting scenes. Especially the ending...
just telling up the rebellion has begun, barely hinting at an unknown district and not showing any of it???

Also, what is it with popular female written novels centered around a potential threesome that never seems to come to fruition?

Similar to the novel. The actual Hunger Games doesn't start until the back third of the book.

Yep they are spliiting it into two. I've just read all three novels while chilling in the sun on holiday. Third one (Mockingjay) is by far the weakest of the three, hopefully they'll fix it for the movies. The Catnip POV thing works for the Catching Fire novel but needs tweaking for the movie, hence creating scenes for President Snow (and his grand-daughter) as exposition that isn't in the novel.

Escape Plan

Not Bad!, Could have been just as 'good' without Arnie or Sly! Wouldn't have noticed the difference really!!
Arnie Upstaged Sly in every scene they were in together!.
Similar type of movie too Fortress or No Escape (both from the 90's)

6/10 for effort!

Cloud Atlas - I kept waiting for it but just didn't do it for me, 6 mini stories of which only 2 were interesting and overall a waste of 3 hours.

Wolf of Wall St 9/10, was worried about the 3hr run time and being knackered towards the end but it was a blast and the runtime absolutely flew in.

Previously I'd stated that American Hustle was one of the best films I'd seen in a long time but looking back it is mostly surface dressing and I don't think will hold up to a 2nd or 3rd viewing, so I will revise down to 8/10 still good but not excellent.

It's because you didn't get it, man! They were the same souls.... Growing, nurturing themselves.... and love is eternal.... it conquers all...
At least that's what the muppets who "loved" that borefest keep telling me.

I watched The Spirit, which is probably the worst blockbuster I have ever been blessed with viewing. It even had "so bad, it's good" moments so at least I got a few laughs out of it.

Knowing that doesn't make the film any more bearable though lol. Am amazed I watched the whole thing.

Probly for the same reason I kept watching 'This is the End'... Idle Curiosity and a Hope (however slim) that "It WILL get better!! I know it WILL!!" :p

Wolf of Wall Street - 9/10

so very good....time flew by as others have said. going to leave it a while and watch it again....I rarely watch a movie twice.
