Is this right? Would it delete all the incorrect drivers etc? Just curious about this as I've always done a format and fresh install when upgrading. It would save me a lot of time in the future!!
It doesn't save any time at all, really. You've still got to reinstall most of your programs, re-arrange everything to how you had it before, copy all your user data back to the new Windows user account....It's only useful if you haven't got your documents, photos, videos, etc backed up. Overlaying a new Win install without formatting also leaves you with a lot of stray crapola hanging around, that's why I suggested that the OP do it only to get his stuff backed up and then format.
