Does anyone have OCD? : Obsessive compulsive disorder

OCD is there, but people blame everything on a 'medical' condition these days, instead of just saying oh look I spent £1K on a TV, of course I dont want any wires to show as it spoils the look

That's just being anal that's not true OCD. For example, my uncle previously would wash his hands constantly so bad they would be incredibly sore. That's just one form, OCD is a true thing you're just looking at it from how society is today.

Don't worry, everyone has it now. "omg my ocd's are kicking in!1!!!"

Just like soon every kid will have Autism, aspergers, ADHD, Dyslexia, e.t.c so the parents can feel better about why their kid is lazy/naughty/thick/rude (delete as appropriate) child.

This really, seems everyone has to have something now.

No, I'm saying when I was young people wouldn't blame if a kid was naughty or bored on Autism etc, they simply found something to either make the kid no longer bored or get rid of the bad behavior. Instead of stuffing them full of pills.

This isn't America dude, children diagnosed with behavioral issues are only ever treated medically as a last resort and in extreme cases.

My gf has worked as a behavioral support specialist for 5 years, and Autism very much exists, in fact we all have it, just in very varying degrees (hence people not liking change and being creatures of habit).

Quite how casual jokes about mental health issues such as OCD, depression or schizophrenia are still acceptable is beyond me.

"Oh I'm OCD about that"
"He/she's schizo!"
"God it's monday i'm so depressed"

You wouldn't say, "urgh this cold is like having cystic fibrosis" or "I think I've got knee-aids" or "this hangover is like having a brain tumour"

Disappointed not to see 10 posts from someone saying "I have OCD and must do everything ten times" as a witty response.

I'm a bit obsessive about things like hand washing and I avoid stepping on cracks in the pavement, but judging by the pile of stuff on my desk right now I don't think I'm in any real danger of catching OCD.

I'm going to hope you are joking :p

My wife has it, I used to battle against it but now I just go with it and help her.

We get this topic every so often and I always repeat myself and say, "people saying they need all their CDs in order LOL OCD is not OCD" but it's getting dull. It's actually kind of annoying to those that have it.

I HAVE AIDS BECAUSE I COUGHED HARD LOL AIDS. What people think is OCD is not generally OCD.

I have OCD but only when it comes to keeping things tidy and clean. I like my stuff being where it is ie if i put something somewhere then god damn it leave it there lol...does my nut in when my missus moves my stuff around, almost go into a blind rage which causes her hrs of amusement but she loves me for it as shes a messy bugger herself.

FACE PALM.

Didn't read the rest of the thread then?

I would love to give you the experience of the worst day of my OCD life and watch you "lol" about it.

You mean... you like to keep things tidy and clean. Do you get stressed out when things aren't clean? Do you get angry? Do you start shouting? Do you cry? Do you put off important tasks and not go out so you can clean instead? No, thought not.

"I have to do everything twice" coming up in 5, 4, 3, 2........?

EDIT - beat me to it. Classic gag. Bravo.

Seriously though, I used to have to even out the number of times I might have tapped my fingers on one hand with the same number on the other, so if I tapped along to a song, I'd have to repeat the sequence on the other hand to even it out :/

Luckily it didn't last long and I managed to force myself not to do it.

Sounds tragically hard to cope with. My condolences.
