What film did you watch last night?

The Wolf of Wall Street. Classic Scorcese film in the style of Casino/Goodfella's with the third person narration. Actors were all at the top of their game, absolutely brilliant film.

9.5/10

Thor: The Dark World

Was thoroughly...bored. Story was quite dull, and not really engaging for the characters. Very by the number IMO. I think I'm a little fatigued of the whole comic book/super hero type films.

On a side note, I did read that Natalie Portman didn't want to return for this(some fallout over choice of director) but was forced to, due to her contract.

6/10 - For the special effects.

Filth: Mind-blowing performance from James McAvoy playing an absolute scumbag, in a very funny and stomach-churning film of Irvine Welsh's book. Bluray ordered, buying a poster and reading the book now. 10/10 all day long.

I watched this last night, as I was a bit surprised it had been made into a film. I have read the book a few times and it is indeed very filthy, not just in the sex and drugs, but the err... physical and psychological health issues he has to cope with. The first thing I think about when I see the book is the state of Bruce's crotch/arse (I'll leave you to sniff that out in the book!), and this is not mentioned at all in the film.

I am pleased I watched this but I can't really compare it with the book.

8.5/10 for me

Thanks

Olympus has fallen - Really liked this, reminded me of a proper old school action flick in the same vein as Die Hard. 7/10

Source Code - A bit like ground hog day but for only 8 minutes, liked the concept and over all story. 7/10

Wolf of Wall Street

Saw it last night - brilliant, very funny, superb acting from Di Caprio and Hill. Read the book twice years ago and it was exactly how I remembered it all.

9/10 - fantastic film.

The plane trip to switzerland and the scene when he goes for the phone at the country club are brilliant.

I, Frankenstein

Went in to the cinema probably knowing what to expect. No surprises.

Switch your brain off and enjoy the fight scenes.

We went to the 3D screening (spur of the moment cinema visit while out shopping) and yet again I find the 3D experience completely pointless. Parts that were 3D were pasted onto the screen like they didn't belong. No consistency to its use and very much added in.

6/10

EDIT:

wow I made it through 45 minutes of After Earth and I give up.

Nothing about it made me want to watch another minute. What a load of nonsense.

0/10 not often I give this but I love sci fi and its unheard of for me to switch a sci fi flick off.

First Blood (on one of the ITV channels last night). Great film. The character Col. Samuel Trautman is well cheesy though :)

Home Alone. Between the inept cops and the ludicrous violence meted out in defence of one's home, this is basically castle doctrine propaganda. The script has a few good lines and Joe Pesci goes all out, so there's at least something to it.

Desolation of Smaug... again... GF won a pair of tickets.

I still think its a touch too long and no intentions of watching it on bluray EVER

Sherlock Holmes - a Game of Shadows. 8/10

Very good continuation of the Holmes story, as told by Guy Ritchie.

Some very funny quotes

[horses] They're dangerous at both ends and crafty in the middle. Why would I want anything with a mind of its own bobbing about between my legs?

Some good 'Bullet Time' action

I do hope they make some more!! :)
