What film did you watch last night?

All Is Lost.

The bulk of the film's dialogue is done with out the way right at the very start. Redford is the only actor on screen throughout and that means he has to delivery a super strong performance which I felt he did very well. Imagine Castaway and Life Of Pi minus Wilson, Richard Parker and the many visual splendors.

Mariner inaccuracies aside you do get the sense of being stranded, the loss of hope during some moments and the storms that drift through.

Robert Redford is showing his age though but he pulled off some good stuff in this. A 7.5 from me as far as acting and directing goes. Well worth the watch on the big screen with big sound.

Django Unchained 1/10

Absolute toilet, can't believe anyone rated this at all, I suppose as it's Tarantino everyone has to gush over it but I just thought it was a poor mans Blazing Saddles with blood to cover up the lack of jokes.

Lol uwotm8

Captain Phillips... 9/10... I just don't get why they don't equip ships that sail along the Somalian coast with a few RPG's and AR15's... That'll put an end to any skinnies getting on board. Seemed so easy. Not hard to take over a ship when you're the only ones with guns.

It's not that bad, come on.

It's not nearly as good as everyone made out, though. A long way from his finest work. After the first hour or so it just goes totally off the rails.

Sixteen Candles. From what I've read, this reviewed really well way back in the 80s. It must be a product of its time, because I thought it was guff. It was utterly bizarre.

I have a very soft spot for 80s films and John Hughes in particular.

Having said that I agree with you. Rubbish.

Try Some Kind of Wonderful for John Hughes at his best (I'm assuming you've seen the Breakfast Club)

1) International treaties forbid commercial vessels from carrying guns
2) up until the maersk alabama pirates hadnt targeted such big ships, and not western ones either, there had been some hassle but nothing this far out to sea either
3) they do now - task force 151 sticks some dudes on your boat while you sail past somalia and then picks them up at the other side

excellent film though!

Or just keep a dentist on board.. That'll scare 'em away.

Breakfast Club has been on my Lovefilm list for ever. I need to up the priority. Ferris Bueller is the one of his that I love. I'll add the other one you've mentioned.

In other news, I watched World War Z tonight. As a zombie film it's ok... As an adaptation of the book it takes its name from, it's a travesty. So far removed as to be pointless. The book has loads of interesting ideas in it. The only bit of this that made me take notice was what the CIA man said the North Koreans had done to slow the spread of the zombie plague - that was brilliant. The rest was boring, nothing new.

Watched The Wolf Of Wall Street yesterday. Have to say it was really good. The girlfriend was worried about the 3 hour length but it flew by. Some really funny moments as well. Definitely one I would recommend even if you don't think it's the type of film you'd enjoy.

Also watched RUSH a few nights ago and again this is a really enjoyable watch. Even if you have no interest in the sport you should put it on your list.

Justice league - WAR - 8/10

Another great Carton movie from DC, the story was a bit lacking but its action packed and a nice introduction to the DCU reboot.
