Motorola Moto G - new budget smartphone champion?

well, this is new. put my phone on to charge earlier, just went to turn in on 10 mins ago and it's bootlooping. tried a factory reset, tried re-flashing the original boot.img, nothing...

phone is a dud :(

I'm thinking it might be a bug in Kitkat on this particular phone,Ive now found out why i constantly keep getting no network signal and its because "Aeroplane" mode keeps switching itself on randomly. :(

Also why the hell is "Data Roaming" enabled by default...i had £10 credit + £20 free from the network..and now i only have £2.56 or something like that,Its eaten all my credit up!
Of course ive turned it off now,But seriously just silly thats its enabled by default..how are people no so phone savvy suppose to know about things like this. :/

Having connection drop outs the last couple days as well. Phone has been perfect since December so doubt its just a coincidence suddenly we all have the same issue at the same time. Giffgaff here btw

Had the phone a few days now and I really like it. Coming from an S3, the battery is loads better. It almost does 2 days of medium usage. All I want is a phone that will do 1 day of medium/heavy usage. The size is so much nicer to use even at 4.5" against 4.8", I think I might even go for 4.3" next time. I've always thought that to be the perfect size since the s2, oddly I've never owned one.

that's all on 4.4.2 which I updated to before I did anything else.

.

Yes, with the 4.5" screen I can use the phone with one hand, standing up on a crowded train etc. On anything larger it becomes difficult. But I do like a bigger screen than 4.5"... it is all about compromises.

found a GPE official image and flashed it, re-rooted and back up and running.

really can't wait for recoveries/roms to start working properly on the GPE version, as much as stock is great these bugs are driving me mad!

Got one of these on way as a replacement for my aging Galaxy S2. Anyone recommend a case with belt/hip buckle or strap to use at the gym. Like the look of the Motorola flip case in White but need something a bit rugid and heavy duty to protect it at the gym? Any ideas. Ta

Risky taking it to gym incase it drops or goes missing, just leave it in the locker and buy a cheap 128mb mp3 player or somit would be my advice. Tis all i take.

can anyone link me to a non-gpe imagine i can flash? want to try out some roms but being on gpe means the partitions are all different. cheers.

Might need to buy this phone tomorrow, messed up my xperia z again (dropped it).

Tesco has it cheapest at £110 but do you have to buy a top up with it? And do the £2 unlock codes of ebay work?

Also how much real free space do you get with the 8gb model?

Coming from an xperia z which is very fast, I only use twitter, chrome, google maps etc so it should be enough.

Does it support hdmi out?

Yeah I've found that if the phone tends to have poor signal then airplane mode seems to switch itself on sometimes. Extremely annoying. Hope they can fix it.

Fixed my dad's battery issues, something under Android System was keeping the phone awake. I've disabled a bunch of stuff, including the Google Search app (he will never use it) So no more Hotword listening. Its done wonders he can get 3+ days out of it now! lol...

That was exactly what I had, Android System was the biggest usage of the battery. I did a factory reset, and stopped or reduced the automatic synching of the 3 email accounts, and it is much better now...

Yeah i did a FR too, but it was still killing the battery, after looking into it more it was Android system keeping it awake almost constantly. Was quite easy to see as he doesn't actually use it that much, so seeing all the 'blue lines' in the battery stats page gave it away. :D
