Dammit, getting seriously fed up with making coils now. Does anyone have a 100% fool-proof method of getting a working coil? In particular, I'm building it in a ceramic cup for the Sophia using ready wires, so that's all fine.

I wrap it on a small jeweller/watchmaker's screwdriver, all looks good. Get it in the coil and test fire a few times... glows nicely from the middle out and back again. Pulsed a few times, all good. Stick in some cotton and hit it and there's a definite hotspot.

Problem is, I then try to fix the hotspot and end up just destroying the damn thing and having to start again. :(

What thickness wire are you using?

Just sat down and had another go here at home, and got a working coil first time with my usual method. It seems that the key (for me) is thoroughly heating the wire before and after coiling using the gas hob.

My failures are when trying to re-coil while out and about, or at work. They always end up with hot spots and the main reason there would be that I'm only heating it with a lighter before coiling. I'll probably just spend an afternoon making a bunch of ready-to-go heads and carry them around with me. :)

Of course it also removes the safety aspect of having a regulated mod. But provided you're careful that's not necessarily a big issue, just make sure you check all your bits. I still check all my coils on a regulated mod first.

I got my clones from modsandatties http://www.modsandatties.com/gb/

The Kfl looks good on the Nemisis clone in 18350 mode as in PardonTheWait's pic.
Regarding mech mods, yes they have no vv/vw control, but looks wise they look better imo.
The main saftety thing is that there is not a short on your coil, so i usually build a coil, test it on my Vamo, and if there isno shorts, i put it on my mod.
Or you can always buy a kick for it.
I doubt you will be going sub oHm (less than 1oHm) so normal good quality batteries should be fine.

Thanks guys, I was about to ask what the safety aspect is that I need to look out for, and you've answered it. My batteries are 2 x Torchy IMR 18350 Button Top 850mAh Li-Ion 3.7v. I've no idea how low resistance I can coil with those, but I've no desire to go sub ohm or anything.

Good link there, j.col. Love the look of the atomo mod and 360 atty clone combo, it has the perfect aesthetics. Not sure if I can or should be bothering with a genny type build yet though.

I got my KFL+ clone from vape gear and it's great, a lot better than the 3.1es clone I got from FT.

Cheers for the info. I think I'm about to buy a nemesis clone on FT, along with magnets to replace the springs (was recommended by a review). I was also going to buy a KFL+ to 3.1 on there to match it and replace mine, but are they no good then? Also, is it my eyes or is your tank wider than the nemesis?
What I want is something perfectly flush and not much longer than this http://s12.postimg.org/y5qo94xyl/uhara2yd.jpg

The one piece clear tank is a little wider, the regular one isn't.

My FT 3.1 is fine, but the KFL+ from VapeGear is a much nicer atty, nicer quality. Much much smaller top to bottom as well because there's no catch tank on the KFL+ like there is on the 3.1. This is the regular tank on it on an 18350 Nemesis:

Adding the hybrid kit and nano tank on the KFL will shrink it, as will using the stumpy drip tip instead of the standard one.

Thing is with the nano kit is that it makes the chimney portion of the Kayfun disappear and that's where nearly all the juice is held! There's hardly any juice around the fat part of the chimney - the clear tank shows it really well if you turn it upside down, you can see that probably more than 3/4 of the juice is in the skinny chimney's part of the tank.

Gahhh missed out on the GP Heron today, totally forgot pre-orders were opening at 5pm today :(.

Oh well just have to wait for the next batch i guess.

PardonTheWait, that pic with the regular atty looks more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, mostly because the tank is completely flush with your mod.
I might still go for the nano kit at some point, although it's £20 for just two slimmer SS rings and a clear tank! At the very least, I'll use one of my shorter drip tips.

I'm going to buy the nemesis from FT but as it'll take so long to arrive, I might buy a Kayfun from a local etailer so I can use it with the Sigelei meanwhile. That is, if I can find one with the brushed SS finish. Couldn't find any on vapegear, they seem to have stopped selling them.
edit: you meant vapetank, I can see the KFL+ on there now.

There is an update on FT though with their brushed SS Kayfun 3.1, depends if I can be bothered to wait.

I have been reading through the thread, there is quite a bit of great info. However to save a bit of time I just want to ask - Vapeland starter kit a good choice to start with?

Do you have a link to where they were taking the pre-orders?

I've gone and bought a mech mod, but instead of just using a battery with no control, i have bought an Evolve Kick 2 module. With this it will regulate the wattage and protect from shorts etc, you can go as low as 0.5ohms too

I've got to say yes the Nano kit for a KFL makes it small but when using a single coil the juice can last a day quite well (out and about as in 9-5). However having built a dual coil build I've changed to the normal tank to last a day out!

Hey guys, I bought my HCigar KF SvoeMesto 3.1 clone from amazon two weeks ago for £39.99, just wondering how much you think I can get back for it? I want to buy the one at vapetank for £34.99, same as PardonTheWait has. Mine's not been filled at all, no liquid has touched it. All I've done is unscrewed it to look at the parts and put it back together again, opened two small plastic bags holding the drip tip adapter and see through tank, and used the small screwdriver that came with it to build a coil. It comes with a blue zip up case. I'm not selling it here in a public forum, just wanting some idea.

True. But then looking on fleabay, there aren't exactly tons of them and they are still popular. Hmm, but adding about £4 first class signed for postage means I can't really sell it for more than about £30.

It's where quite a few people here started - so yes, definitely worth a punt :)

Cheers for the info guys. I got myself a Kanger evod/eGo twist 1100mAh battery, a charger, and a few flavours (a flavour called 'marlboro', and a fruity flavour). I definitely need new flavours, and I'll be investing in different setups over the next few weeks :D.

Anyway that's me done smoking. This is close enough to the 'real' thing. And an interesting thing in its own right. It's passed the drunk test ;p.

(edit: I should add, I was impatient, and wanted to purchase irl. And I found that the owner/premises of epuff.co.uk happens to be down the road. The owner, Keith - is a really nice chap, and even gave me a demonstration/tutorial, and threw in some freebies. Good stuff).

Lord, you guys certainly take your vaping seriously!

I've been at it for 2 years now, after smoking for 35 years. Went the usual route of crappy disposables -> ego-c -> big boy stuff - in my case a
ProVari. Finding decent tanks has taken ages, but I'm quite happy with the Tornado RCS from totallywicked.

Thanks for the batt links above - been trying to find a source of decent IMR 18650s for ages!

they sure do take it serious but then again we are on overclockers.co.uk!

Loving my SVD - them normal e-cigs seem piddly in comparison now lol. My colleagues said they expected nothing less from me - An overclockable e-cig :) :)

Try out the starbuzz liquid if you havn't already guys - tons of vapour and lots of flavour - been through a bottle of the Tropical stuff, currently working my way through the melon dew and exotic mango. Tastes very much like the real thing without being too sweet.

The SVD takes some maintaining but I actually find this keeps my hands busy and my mind away from ciggies - 2 weeks now :)

If you haven't actually used it can't you return it under DSR?

And yes you're right sorry it was vape tank not vapegear.
