What film did you watch last night?

I haven't seen it but the reviews and a couple of mates who have say nothing happens :p

Hmm, I have heard the same thing, heard it has potential, but in reality is really quite slow. Shame really as it is a good cast. Will have to see for myself though before I pass any judgement, could end up eating my words and think its great.

Captain Phillips 8/10

Superb again from Hanks, great film, well made, slightly longer than it needed to be I felt. Also thought the whole bit about the SEALS was a bit naff. Why did you need to see them parachuting in etc? Why did you need to see them pack up and walk away when the job was done etc etc?

Anyway - great movie, hanks was awesome.

Lego Movie 7.5/10

Really enjoyed it, a bit of an overload on the eyesight at times with so much colour/movement stuff going on but enjoyable all the same. Awesome - not quiet, but very good fun.

The Worlds End & Ender's Game, both pretty terrible and ended up just being on in the background 3/10 for both. Worlds End was slightly more entertaining, but not a patch on Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz

The Last Of The Mohicans 10/10 haven't watched it in years, bought it on blueray. Awesome film with awesome soundtrack, now im just wandering what other films are similar to this.

Independence day..

used to think this was a decent film but it's gone down in my estimation. The utterly horrible and completely out of touch and out of place head scientist character at the secret base was so misguided.

And will smiths lack of facial expression in his talking into the mike jet fighter scene where he ends up crashing and taking out the alien craft.

Seeing as last night was now 15 mins ago, mavity.

And I wish I hadn't bothered. Want to go hit my head to destroy any memory of it. Such a ridiculously overly hyped, overly dramatised piece of crap lol.

Avengers Assemble, 7/10 - Finally got around to watching it; have tried twice, and both times I've been knackered so have fallen asleep :p Even now it took me two sittings haha. The first half I thought was a bit slow, but the later part was very entertaining indeed. I'm not rating this film on the acting performances, although robert downey jr was witty as usual, and samuel L was reasonable. Just looking at this film for entertainment value I think it deserves a 7.5, but I'll give it a 7 given that the plot is actually quite predictable and the acting mediocre. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't already, although you probably have as it was a massive hit.

All this mavity hate is clealy coming from people watching 2D MKV or dodgy MP4's on their Scabby small TV's in their bedroom lol
I keep seeing all of this hate which is making me not want to watch it! I'm waiting to get it from lovefilm on blu ray when it comes out in March, then I'll decide :D My friend said it was pretty great and he watched it in the cinema so I'm relying on his opinion and the opinion of the BAFTA judges :p

IMAX and cinema.

Its Brilliant...

Its amazing that I have seen some diss the film while saying worlds end is good.

I rest my case.:D

Faith in humanity LOST :D

Its a visual experience...and one hidden with meaning....But unfortunately if you are thick you miss the existentialism and nod to evolution...

I mean the ending is so peppered with stuff on an intelectual level...and yet people watch it on face value its laughable :p

Leave em to watch Fast and Furious lol Or someone in here favorite film of all time

Wait for it....

Gone in 60 seconds

Yep Thats the expectation of quality film making in this thread for some :D

Some people ideas on rating a film makes no sense. I'd say 7/10 is a good score. So why rate 7/10 then state the only good thing about that film is the acting and that the film turned pap in the middle?

Same with someone who stated a film is "pretty good - 9/10".

My OCD demands the OP place guidelines to stop such madness. I. E." Pretty good" to me us 7/10. "Good acting but turns pap" is a 4/10. An average/satisfactory film is 5-6/10. Excellent is 9/10, not "pretty good".

Yes, it irks me!

That's a 'pretty good' statement.

I'd give you 7/10

:p

Couldnt have been that entertaining if it took you 2 sittings ;)
I tried to watch it after about 6 hours of essay writing and it was 11:30 last night. I wanted to chill out for a bit but tiredness was getting the better of me so I watched the last 45 this morning :)

Haha, I have noticed that sort of thing in this thread before ;)

A prime example is when me and my friend who is into films like me watched Inside Llewyn Davis what the rest of my house. The girls in the house got bored very quickly, and one in particular complained that "nothing was happening" and it was "****". I was very agitated, as I got the message, I enjoy Coen brothers films, and I was generally enjoying, but they ruined my first viewing as they weren't taking it in for what it was. :(

Dallas Buyers Club - 8/10

Fantastic film, not quite as good as Wolf on Wall Steet but I think McConohaugh or how ever you spell his name puts in an oscar winning performance. Touching, sometimes funny, sometimes grim depiction of a guy in the 80s and his battle against AIDS and the authorities in the US. Moved to tears at the end when he loses his court case.
