What film did you watch last night?

Must be my time of the month or something but I felt like watching a romcom today, so I watched:

About Time - 8/10
Good film with the right mix of comedy and thought-provoking/feelgood stuff. Very similar to Love Actually, think it was the same writer/director.

All this mavity hate is clealy coming from people watching 2D MKV or dodgy MP4's on their Scabby small TV's in their bedroom lol

Guilty. However that doesn't give me reason to want to see it. I enjoy a good story, not a 2 hour tech demo with 2 actors and zero substance. For "The 3D Experience" I've seen Avatar.

mavity wipes the floor with Avatar with 3D

Zero Substance?

Cow in field springs to mind :p

The Lego Movie - Everything is awesome! Very well made film that pays tribute to the best toy ever and very funny in parts too. The animation was excellently done (even if it did take a few minutes to get used to) as well as the pieces behaved like Lego, practically no flexing and the attention to detail was exceptional! 5/5

Her 8/10

Another Oscar nominated offering with Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson, kinda.
Bizarre Love story with a twist(s). Very odd twist lol. A bit of a satire on Modern life.
The twists were fairly predictable but satisfying, being a computer geek adds another layer of unintended humor for sure. I think Magnolia will make a sex wee watching this film. I imagine this is how half of OcUK will be spending their lives in the not too distant future.

I dont think its going to win any awards, it was better than i expected. Starts well, slight dip in the middle ok ending.

I will never look at my Ipad the same.

Looking forward to seeing this, every review of this I've heard has been good.

mavity- Cracking visuals, kept me on edge right to the end, great acting. 8/10

The Butler - I really enjoyed watching this with the gf, good story, some of the actors looked just like the real people although one or two were a bit rubbish at acting. Overall 7/10.

So you agree its style over substance then.

Not at all

What makes you say that?

Its a visual experience yes...But there is more to it than that.

If you can't see the hidden depths to it thats fine...But just because you can't see does not make the film lack any substance.

Thats your fault not the film.

The Hobbit: 6/10.
About 3/4 of an hour too long, padded out with scenes (often rather silly ones) which probably look great in a 3D cinema. Harmless fun though and I'd have watched the next one if Netflix had it.

I'd have given it 7/10 but I can't get over them casting Nesbitt as a dwarf... takes me out of the moment every time he opens his annoying gob. And try as I might I can't see Freeman without thinking Office.

Old Boy.

Pales in comparison to the original. Why!! Well I can only judge it by my own taste but the build up and emotional level of the main character is just not there, and leaves you lacking with the finale, which in this version is weak hollywood guff.

Sharlto Copley for me just hasn't go the dimensions of the characters he's tried to play since D9, Brolin is good, and so is Olsen (very sexy bod), but the whole thing just doesn't sit right.

5/10

Go watch the original.

The Last Of The Mohicans 10/10 haven't watched it in years, bought it on blueray. Awesome film with awesome soundtrack, now im just wandering what other films are similar to this.

What an amazing film, music/cast etc. I agree with the 10/10 for sure. shame films these days are all gash.

Last night watched Escape Plan was looking forward to this for a while but only just got around to watching it and while it was fine enough was hoping for a little bit more between Sly and Arnie.

Earlier in the week got around to watch The Wolf of Wall Street which again I'd been wanting to watch, enjoyed it, thought it was perhaps a little too long and sometimes it felt that the story didn't really move on but it was good.

Also watched The Colony which started quite well and the idea was good but it ended up just using the same cliches of so many other films which was a shame.

Sorry I don't agree.. Yes Sharlto Copley loves his scenery chewing (I was wondering if he has watched the matrix reloaded recently) but the rest of the film was great. I never felt short changed by it in any way or even thought it was remotely weak. Josh Brolin was very convincing and Samuel L Jackson added a bit of maniacal flair. Taken as either a stand alone flick or a remake it was very good.

After Earth 2/10. Watched it on Sky the other night. I already had a mild dislike of Jaden Smith based on seeing him tarting about with his dad on various chat shows and David Blaine, but his performance in this film has firmly cemented my dim view of him. He is absolutely pathetic in this film, he act even act having a cough. Very very basic story as well, apparently nicked off a TV show Will Smith had seen. A genuinely rubbish film.
