Are you Advanced?

I agree with that but some people just don't need a PC like Mrs Dimple.
Since I bought her a Nexus 7 off here she has never needed to sit by the PC but does everything she needs to do sitting in her chair.

Well the iPad has opened up computing to a vast majority where a computer was just to much hassle. Those people just want to email, browse and look at photos. No need for a computer.

For the people that just browse the internet and send emails, I whole heartily disagree. You have a very short sighted opinion on the consumer market when it comes to technological requirements.

You're all missing my point. There's people that just need an iPad, and they should buy iPads.

But there's people that need computers that bought iPads instead, and those people are starting to realise they've not bought the right thing.

Like the majority of people, I have a GPS satnav. Personally, i'd say that is an "advanced" piece of technology. I'm struggling to think of anything more technologically advanced which is available to the public at a sensible price?

I have a microwave, insane device really.

These two are actually still in my 'from the future' pile.

So are video calls, I'm still not quite over the novelty.

I work in IT, but I'm not particularly 'advanced'

Our household doesn't have a tablet, we're so last-decade. :(

2 PC's (one media PC in living room) and 3 laptops covers about everything I need regularly.

I've an old HTC smartphone, but I rarely use the 'smart' features of it, even rarely use it for internet, unless I'm out and about and desparate!

Got a friend who's a little bit the other direction. His tablet or phone controls what music is playing in each room of the house, each zone temperature, and what media plays back where all via his server room. Oh, and he can also adjust the curtains and blinds - the same way. :p

Only downside he says is if he has friends over and they bring a DVD, he gets puzzled looks when he has to disappear off to the cold utility room to put it in the drive! :D

Only 'advanced' thing I own is a 4K TV, which as it goes is almost entirely pointless. Only 4K content I've seen is a movie or two and certain youtube videos, which we all know are compressed more than a dying star.

I think I'm on Tech lvl 2, not basic but also nowhere near Tech 3 or Experimentals. I need to sort out my economy first.

Really should dig out the original iPad thread and laugh at all the people who said it would fail and/or would be a fad.

Oh guy, just search the Apple Forum, I had a ongoing "discussion" with someone who keep going on it's a fad.

I might just get my iPad 1 out and take a photo next to that post :p

Did you spend >£10,000 on it?

Smartyphones are the future tech that everyone uses daily to run their general business. Today I used the Barclays app to contact them, used the built in "Call Barclays" feature and was greeted by name by a lady who didn't even need to ask for any security details.

I thought that was rather convenient and time saving. No hassle either. A sign of good use of modern technology for sure.

^My phone records video at 4k too but damned if I have a TV to play at that resolution. Maybe once those LG PC monitors are out... :p

My entire house has LED lights with three nest detectors on each floor (three storey house)

CAT6 throughout running to a gigabit switch

32TB NAS in the office storing well over a thousand blurays which I personally converted to 1080p MP4

Lounge, dining room and each bedroom have Smart LED TVs (the lounge one is passive 3D, main bedroom active 3D).
Lounge is ready wired for a projector, and there's a 105" electric screen hidden above the ceiling. I sold the projector a few years ago, but will at some point buy another one

There is a full sonos sound system throughout the house

2 x iPhone 5s
4 x Apple TV 3s
2 x iPad Airs
2 x Macbook Pro Retinas
Gaming PC
Mining Rig

I'm an apple fan :D

having technologically advanced items, I would say is doors/lights/blinds/appliances etc you can activate with voice control etc

Phones/PC's are not technological advanced items, they are just progression of old tech.
