Yeah Meteor still seems a bit crap. Its too expensive and there are far easier skills to land for greater effect.

I found cold-centric builds still fairly effective even before Frost Orb but until my early 40s I was still playing Normal. I only switched to Expert after beating it the first time. May not have had the same effect on higher difficulties before that point.

That said I did have a bit of fun with Blizzard, 80% slow, Frost Nova, 900% damage rune and Ray of Frost massive damage DoT on enemy death. Problem is the harder things get, the less it matters how easily you kill the mobs. Its down to how you can handle elites and champions and some skills simply don't work very well for them at all.

i easily can pretty much facetank most elites on torment 1. so survivability ain't the issue. still need to up my dps and find a spec a like :p

Emeralds are worth like 5-6 times as much as Ruby's so your friend is doing you a huge favour there!

I know but he's rich and I gave him a new Imp set chest that made him love me forever (or at least till the 28th).

Sooner or later im going to have to switch to Diamonds in some of my gear cause my DH gets once shotted above T3 (and some times on T3).

I can also one shot myself with reflecting mobs and its becoming too common right now.

Marquis and higher gems drop from mobs in the xpac anyway so I wouldn't invest too much gold into gems unless you plan to sell them before the AH closes. I personally made over 1 billion gold buying flawless square rubies from the AH and turning them into radiant stars about a week ago :)

I read that the Gems dropping on the PTR were not going to be dropping on release but we will see.
Nothing else i buy of the AH is going to have any value at all going forward legacy level 60 loot will be worthless pretty much. new loot going forward cant be traded so the only thing that will be tradable of value will be gems pretty much.

You're going to want the gold for enchanting and stat rerolls given they're quite expensive. Even if marquis gems don't drop, imperial quality do and will drop, that's a guarantee and they're hugely better than anything currently in game.

There still money in this?

What I've been doing is clearing areas of mobs (anywhere high density) or running Torm 3 acts while looking for Keys.

I made over 5 million Gold last night from dropped gold alone (Goldskin armour with 100%plus Gold find and procing gold drops on hit) and bought gems from the AH and combined them (5 mil bought me around 300 flawless squares).

I am also trading with a freind he gets my rubys and a i get his emeralds.

You have a very good friend there! :o :p

Prices on flawless squares have almost quadrupled since I did that so there's probably still some money in it, just not the 900-1000% I was making previously. You'd have to do the calculations based on the current prices to see if it's still worth it.

It's very close now and after the 15% tax you make very little, if you bought thousands and crafted them you could still make some profit but it takes a while to craft thousands of gems.

Yeah I've ran a few now, the profits little if any. I've been quite loose with keeping track so it may even be a tiny loss. Why on earth do they tax gold lol?

Hmmmm, going to give this a play through again, I previously played a monk and LOVED it, the fast combat was immense and damage was tasty.

Any suggestions? I like quick and high dps.

So, decided to actually pay attention this time.

729 flawless square rubies = 4,111,560G
crafting cost = 3,060,000
total = 7,171,560
sold for = 7,690,225

So each radiant star ruby gets you 518665 give or take probably around 50 or 60k depending on how much the flawless squares cost and how much the radiant may sell for. Took about 20 minutes to craft them so about 25k gold per minute, not bad but hardly something you could sit doing for long without an iron will. Damn shame the flawless square prices went up! :p

TBH though as long as you salvage the blues and yellows that drop, and sell the crafting materials, you'd get probably half that much from just playing, and all that beautiful XP too.
