'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

That's it. They will NEVER find the plane. No chance now! Chinese are useless clueless! Feel sorry for the loved ones of their families, friends etc. They probably will sued the airliner company for failed to find the body or plane.

I'm confused? The images were released by mistake ??
They look like there is stuff on them, so much so that planes were dispatched to look at the area.
What good would not releasing the images have done?

Something not quite right with all of this

As i understand it, the data doesnt "go" to Boeing or Rolls Royce. It is broadcast unencrypted and can be picked up by anybody listening for it.
Or have i misunderstood this?

I have no direct experience of ACARS/ACMS/CPDLC/WQAR. They are satellite- or radio frequency-carried datalinks (except for WQAR which might use cellular networks when available) between ATC and pilot or plane and airline (and possibly on to manufacturer ?).

There are probably loads of 'leads' that are being followed at any one time. Remember you have 12 countries involved in this. To publish most of those leads [i.e. 99%] would end up in more unnecessary media speculation and frenzy.

Why cant they place a device inside the blackbox recorder that could send signals back by satilite to the where abouts it is,they just depend on tracking from the airports computers.

I don't know about this aircraft, but according to the story of Quantas flight 32 (which was an A380 admittedly), it was reporting realtime information to their ground control, so they could see that something was terribly wrong.
