'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

All of which illustrates the point that it's not just a case of pressing a couple of buttons to disable every system capable of tracking the aircraft.

It doesn't illustrate anything if the comment of fuses behind a communication board was a load of ****.

Anyway I will let people get back to googling crap articles written by journalists scouring pprune and bow out. I have to work tonight and as much as I hate working with aircraft I hate talking about them even more in my free time :D

If I get any Comms and Nav issues tonight I will be sure to come to ocuk for system resets.

Even so.. i don't think it's diffult if you know where to find said fuses. My guess is someone of knowledge (pilot or someone who has researched) could disable these things easily within minutes.

It would be interesting to know more about this. It was very briefly discussed on pprune before a lot of people clearly very knowledgeable on aircraft and their related systems but showing basic misunderstandings of computer systems decided that 'it could never happen'. (Most of these posts have now been deleted along with the alien theories).

I don't think he can either. But guys from Freescale Semiconductors might...

How did it fly that far off track on autopilot as well? The Greek one linked above ended up in a holding pattern over Athens airport so the logical assumption would be that the plane fell out of the sky around Beijing if everyone was incapacitated. If they knew there was a problem then they probably would have reported it and I assume reprogrammed the autopilot?

Wouldn't be the first time that autopilot took the plane off course due to a fault or user error.

Of course that's why these pop-out fuse boards are easily accessible for the pilot/co-pilot/flight-engineer. Not just so that the fuse's can be reset but also so individual circuits can be quickly isolated in the event of fault/fire hazard (the LAST thing you want on a plane is a fire  )

There were 2 Iraqis on board with stolen passports though.. if they were involved in a hijacking i think Diago Garcia would be a more likely target as it was directly involved in the iraq war and the gulf war before that.

Iraq missions also flew from U-tapao. And the two guys were Iranian, so by your logic they would be happy with Diego Garcia helping to defeat Iraq.

"Chinese researchers claim, tragically, that they have evidence that the aircraft carrying 239 people is now sitting at the bottom of the sea"

"The researchers say they recorded a “seafloor event” in waters between Malaysia and Vietnam about an hour and a half after the missing plane’s last contact"

Is this old news or? I'm still hoping someone landed it somewhere.

Do you have actually have a good source for this rather than Hollywood Life?
