'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

The way I saw it, screaming, crying and shouting at the authorities in front of the world's press is only going to get you removed, in Malaysia or anywhere else. Don't think it's got anything to do with them being Muslim or backwards, as you put it.

This. Plus you say female relatives, as if to hint at female oppression, whereas in fact the article and the video shows families.

Stick to the Daily Mail.

And preventing the BBC from getting across to them...

Yup they're backwards, authoritarian etc...

Like mariners, does the captain of a plane have to go down with the vessel (or be the last person off)..?

My fear, if, and when then do find it, it will be broken up cast across a massive area, with which, as time goes on, makes finding the FDRs even more challenging than say Air France...

lol so what? The press are blocked from tons of stuff including in this country.

Prevented from talking to people... erm no. There is simply no reason for it, they don't want to lose face and then end up looking even sillier with their face saving actions... dragging families off, putting a line of police in front of a BBC reporter and stopping him from reaching them. That isnt civilised, it's the actions of a backwards authoritarian police force from a backwards authoritarian country...

OK, but I don't think you understood my original point. Do you think it is possible that an onboard fire on MH370 was able to incapacitate (or kill) everyone on the plane yet not damage the plane sufficiently so that it was able to fly for many hours after the fire started?

oh no i doubt a fire could do that on it's own with smoke and still let the plane fly that would mean heavy plastics were burning i.e cabin furniture.

but if something had caused loss of pressure or the pilots actions that may have and the fire may have burnt it's self out or was successfully extinguished. he plane could limp a good way, not necessarily for long but it doesn't take long at nearly 600 miles an hour to cover a lot of ground.

I just read somewhere that the "Alright, Goodnight" comment made by the pilot was made after the plane made a left turn and headed towards Langkawi. Surely that rules out the mysterious fire theory?
Did anyone else watch Aircrash Investigators last night? Everyone on board Helios flight 522 died of hypoxia, but the autopilot put the plane into a holding pattern around an airfield until the fuel ran out and they crashed. All this was caused by one single switch being left in the wrong position. Maybe something similar happened to flight MH370.
I've just been on a US message board and a US news station are saying the plane has been spotted in Pakistan.

Yes the last ATC communication was after the plane turned and the transponder went off. Which shows that the co-pilot knew the transponder went off because of the warning light.

For the same to happen (automatically enter the hold) then the aircraft would have reached Beijing and it would be, noticeably, circling overhead. The holds are typically pre-programmed for the arrival airport so even though the aircraft won't automatically descend it would still follow the lateral navigation, overfly the airfield and then presume it was a missed approach/go around, and go to that pre-defined hold.

Sorry, so the BBC can't talk to relatives outside of press conference time? Hasn't stopped them before...

As usual the anti Muslims are at to again, first with the terrorism accusations, especially as they found out Iranians were on the plane...

Few sites are now reporting the pilot deleted flight logs from his simulator in the month leading up to the disappearance of flight MH370.

Saw that myself. Could mean anything. Unless he was practising to fly a plane into Tajikistan/Uzbekistan/Afghanistan/Kazakhstan, and did so after the opposition leader was imprisoned, and we know at least one pilot was a supporter, the passengers being taken by some terrorist militia group.

From what my wife mentioned I don't think the opposition leader was a radical.

I think those groups are vocal in Malaysia but don't hold the seat of govt or that opposition party. Happy to be corrected.
