'Contact lost' with Malaysia Airlines plane

I've just been on a US message board and a US news station are saying the plane has been spotted in Pakistan.

Quite a few theories that the plane has landed in Pakistan and is being kept for terrorist purposes. Nice video here, interview with Lt. Gen. McInerney. Yes it's Faux News, but it's interesting:

Another part of the theory here:

The radar capabilities in the Western China region, the ‘stans’ and the mountainous areas of the Northern Middle East are generally archaic, not staffed, and only activated when there is a reason to be looking for something. A surprise flight with no advanced notification could easily slip through undetected almost to anywhere.

Why would a terror group not claim the event? Quite simply because they have no desire to outline their intents or draw attention toward themselves. If they plan to do something with this plane why would they announce they have it.

As a consequence it’s reasonable to assume all the passengers were viewed as immaterial to the event itself. The goal was not hostage taking and any passenger surfacing would be viewed as a risk to the mission itself being discovered. So they were most likely killed during the event. Perhaps while still seated, during a planned decompression and strategic oxygen loss event.

Where is the plane? It could be in any number of places – concealed, covered, and now available for the next stage of its usefulness.

Thing is if it was landed in Pakistan wouldn't there be a lot of squawking on the terrorist networks as it's a real logistical nightmare to land, hide, deal with 220 dead or alive passengers.

I'm sure the US are listening in or are picking up increased comms activity in these regions they monitor.

Also the pilot with the simulator didn't sound like a pro Islamic militant type following his support of the guy who got convicted just prior to take off.

The less information the more retarded these 'theories' keep getting...

Keep thinking that if it makes you feel safer. We're on the verge of something very big here, and it will become clear in the next few days just how big it is.

I'd have thought so but...

.. the US are most likely aware of much more than they're letting on at this point.

Indeed, who knows. But something has been cleverly orchestrated here, for reasons of which we cannot be sure at this point.

You said they would be unconscious at 35,000 ft if the plane was unpressurised, no they wouldn't they would be on oxygen.

If any passengers were awake then yes, they would put their oxygen masks on. however, when the oxygen runs out in fifteen minutes all of the passengers would be unconscious.

That wasn't what was being discussed, it was the last comm message from the pilot. The pilot gets a lot longer than 15 minutes. No one was discussing passengers.

Good grief.

The quote suggested something similar to the Helios flight, ie that the pressurization switch was accidentally left switched off and everyone became incapacitated.

If the same thing had happened here then the final communication could not have happened because it was at 35,000ft.

Or maybe in a few months time someone will find the plane in the Indian Ocean.....

The terrorists/Pakistan idea is just way too flawed to entertain.... airspace there is rather more tightly controlled and observed for obvious reasons.

One thing is for sure. The airspace in that part of the world is way to easy to sneak through.

They were picked up by both Malaysian and Thai radar.... they didn't go undetected its just seemingly both of those countries were too inept to do anything.

I still think the most likely outcomes is its either in the sea somewhere around malaysia or made its way (fuel logistics depending) to Iran or almost there via going around the bottom of the Maldives and up the Arabian sea. While I'm not convinced that is the outcome theres a fair few things that indicate it as a possibility and it can't really have travelled as long as it did (other than largely circling) North, North East or East and parts of South East of its original course without being almost certainly detected for various reasons.

While the apparent fuel levels would have only let them make it about 80% of the way I don't think its been 100% confirmed yet that those were the actual fuel levels.

Latest from BBC News- the Australians have tracked the plane on the southward arc over the Indian Ocean. They have had satellite information that has not been publicly released as of yet. Also corresponds with information from the NTSB. It appears the plane was headed in the direction of the South Pole... It just gets weirder...

I swear reading your post just made me realize I should be appreciative for my intelligence, in fact reading your post just made me dumb.

What a silly comment I would happily trust them,

Silly silly silly

well the thing most likely to kill you on a plane journey is the pilot.

What a silly comment I would happily trust them, do you not trust your bus driver to be a mechanic, do you expect everyone driving a car to be a mechanic?
and no i would expect that thats why im saying pilots are not reliable sources of information relating to the engineering side of planes.

I can't see that story about them tracking the flight? They have announced that they may have sighted some debris by satellite though.
