Titan Z

Personally had enough of all these 28nm cards. Time for something other than GK110 or Hawaii GCN. Roll on 20nm..

What's the best estimate regarding when we will see it? Trying to work out if its worth me getting a 780TI over my 780. I'm cooling it on water so looking for big clocks, mainly for BF4 120Hz gaming.

Eh, close enough :p

If I was AMD I would definitely put two full fat Hawaii chips on a PCB, add a really classy waterblock, throw in some Samsung memory, add a high factory OC and get it out the door for £700.

It would be cooler, quieter, and considerably faster than the Titan Z and 1/3 the price, no contest.:D

If AMD really wanted to take the micky they could even do a 16gb version (8gb per GPU) for less than £1000.

Sadly this is capitalism and AMD would sell for 2899, not 1000.

I think the waterblock as standard would send the price to the moon, especially an EK. Even though we're seeing a lot of SKUs with blocks these days they really seem to resent the idea and feel like they have to punish those who desire a product they don't want to sell.

A Waterblock would only add £100, whereas adding an NVidia badge seems to add more than £1000.:D

I do think its funny two titans blacks are cheaper and Nvidia gets to keep one fan on a Z.
Just shows less is more :)

For about the same money you can have either of these.

2 x Titan Z

or

4 x Titan Black Editions
1 x RIVE BE
4 x EK Waterblocks
4 x EK Backplates
1 x 4930k
1 x XSPC Twin D5 Dual Bay Reservoir/Pump Combo
1 x XSPC CPU waterblock
And still have a bit of change to go toward the rads.

I think I know which I would go for.:D

I don't understand the price point on this card as it just doesn't make sense. I don't even know who the hell its aimed at and I own 2x evga 780 ti superclocks. Nice product, but not at that price. Even at £1500 it would be extremely hard to justify it as a gamer.

IMO there testing the waters of what people are prepared to pay if there's a big uptake i think we will find the 880's etc priced way higher than current prices on launch :(

Hmmm not sure about that tbh. The new AMD firepro card was paper launched at the same time as this titan Z card so it might just be some daft company to company posturing.

Except nVidia said the Z is for gaming, the Firepro is a workstation card, you'd expect it to cost an arm and a leg because it's not made for you or me. The Z's price just boggles the mind, it's two Blacks on one pcb and downclocked and yet it costs 50% more than two of them bought separately...

Anyone who buys it might as well just get a tattoo on their forehead saying 'nVidia's bitch'.

Just as a small defence, someone said the 690 has some kind of special frame pacing built into the hardware, so there is no need for it on drivers?

I'm not saying that feature costs an extra 1000, but a system incorporating two blackies on same PCP might command a 20% premium to be honest.. but not 50% :D
