http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Luiafk-2137/hero/31608277 is my Monk atm.

Ingame it's around 415k dps, 10M toughness, 12k healing. Paragon is run speed/crit damage/life on hit/all res.

I use mantra of healing because of unity, with the fire dude and follower it's a 10% dps buff for me, and 5 for each of them so I find that's better than the 16 or so from the dps mantra since I also get 4k life per second and 2k life per hit.

Don't really need anything other than immunity+heal rune and passives for defense, so other stuff is just dps skills, all fire so that I can use stuff like magefist and cindercloak (like I was at 60) for decent non-tooltip dps.

The 2h sword is pretty good, it's a 100% proc chance and pierces everything, like a massively buffed sidearm (frenzy rune).

That 2h is sick, I'm jealous.

I may try a few notes out of your build, like unity with the mystic ally. Is the healing mantra better than the dodge one? I guess I'm still stuck in the old ways of maxing dodge, which was the old way to build a monk, maybe not the best now. My survivability even now is through the roof, but severely lack DPS.

Do you prefer LTK over Cyclone Strike? I know LTK does more damage, but the Cyclone Strike is awesome for the big area of effect and dragging enemies around.

Ordered this 2pm from OcUK yesterday and it arrived 10 minutes ago. Along with 2 packs of haribo and a diablo notebook which wasn't listed on the site.

I don't mean to kiss any buttholes but that's some damn good service.

Yeah, I like the sword, on bosses for example every time I use crippling wave it'll do 564% damage AND generate spirit instead of 216% because every sidearm hits the boss :D, that's better than a lot of single target resource spenders :D. I had a level 60 version but it was poorly rolled so I never used it :(.

I'm not sure if healing mantra is better than dodge, it will depend on the situation and gear mostly I imagine.

I tried dodge out straight away whenever unity unlocked (swapping from the damage aura) but I found that even though it's a good defensive increase you still inevitably take damage, and I just didn't have enough healing to heal back up. If you look at my battlenet profile you'll see my healing is under 2k (well, it's 4.4 in game without the mantra, so the mantra gives 8.2k healing), so it doesn't really heal much of 500k hp. So I'd just slowly take damage and gradually get lower and lower waiting for a healing globe to drop :D. 4K life per second and 2K life per hit is pretty good so long as you already have the toughness to survive long enough to make it useful though. If you have a load of healing already then the dodge one is probably better.

As for Cyclone Vs LTK, I pretty much always play solo so pulling enemies towards me would only have the benefit of me being able to attack them quicker, not the benefits of pulling them all then having a wizard drop frozen orbs on them or whatever. Using it in a group is a huge bonus to kill speed, whereas solo it's a much smaller one (or is actually slower due to cost/damage depending on the mobs)

Cyclone is better for ranged mobs (ones that actually keep running away when you get close, not skeleton archers, they seem to be fine with melee range for some reason :D) and stuff like the Fallen (I think they're called that), melee mobs that run away a lot. Whereas LTK is better for melee mobs or ranged mobs that are fine being in melee and love surrounding you since it's a full 360 AoE. I find that with the monster density if you're fighting melee mobs they're all within range of LTK anyway after a second or two to run to you. That and the animation is better :D.

I can see why someone would use either one all the time, or swap between them based on the area they're in tbh, it just depends on your play style, whether you group or solo, and what mobs you face mostly.

Strange how we all go different ways, consider there aren't really that many options on builds. I changed my monk last night from pretty much pure healing to try and eek out some sort of damage. I haven't had many decent level 70 drops yet, so I'm using a 1h and a shield, but added pretty much every damage reduction and dodge skill I could - a quick blast this morning seemed to confirm that I'm now much better, do more damage and survive longer, despite losing 15k healing and about 1.5m toughness.

This is my WD build currently

Tonight im going to overhaul his gear and reroll IAS where applicable into CC, and see if i can reroll some of the things like Acid cloud etc into effects i use.

I am going to ultimately aim for this spec

totally petless

thoughts?

Interesting looking build, let me know how you get on with it. Regarding your current build, do you not find yourself mana starved a lot of the time?

Yeah, Blizz have doen a good job with 2.0.1 and RoS making all the skills viable. Pretty much all of them seem to have a place now, rather than just having one build for each class that was far, far better than all others.

Now at over 1mil DPS ingame, 8mil toughness.. Loving this patch and my wiz!

For some reason battlenet doesn't show my weapon gem unless you hover over it.. strange :P

Yeah, the Battle.net profile page doesn't like to ruin the look of legendary weapons, so makes you mouse over them to see the socket :D.

Just found the new Infernal Machine plans. It taught me 4 different machines, so I guess you don't have to RNG the boss you need now, just have to keep making whichever one you want for the bosses you need until you get the drops.

Yeah and no, as you have no spammable spell really, the idea is to round stuff up using pets as a distraction then pop Piranha on them for the debuff, locust them for the dot and then pop the ghost over yer head and then you just kite really. Its a far from efficient build though and is lacking in a lot of areas.

The suggested one is a lot more risky but should have a lot better syngergy and should pop out some impressive dps, you have control with Piranado to suck everything in and debuff them, then locust them and back up a bit spam primary on them, a lot of mana affecting passives should help. definitely will shine in a group scenario i feel and should be good for soloing albeit a bit risky

Had a funny feeling you'd be a wizard after reading "1M dps" xD

My Barb sits at about 500-600k dps, 12m toughness and a crapton of healing. I just cant wait to farm the new IK set for him.

Yeah no doubt it's a very interesting looking ability set, may steal elements of it myself. I haven't actually been using Locust but I think I will now, it's on every WD build I've seen apart from my own so there has to be something to it. I might try an entirely new set tonight, I'm thinking slow painful death type attack whilst I spirit walk around.

Liking the expansion so far and doing it on T1 through the Act took me about 5-6hours. Which I feels fine when they added Rifts/Adventure mode (the main two bits of the expansion along with the Crusader class.

ps all these n00bs with yellow wings........white wings FTW!!!! :D

I'm happy with the wings of valor, Imperius is my favourite Diablo character. I do long for those Tyrael wings though, I searched a very long time for a vanilla CE but couldn't find one at a price which wasn't a complete rip off =(

Thought i'll get back into this, got a big download though 11gb and painfully slow 600 - 800kb/s i usually get 3 -4 mb/s i presume this is installing the expansion?

Yeah its mainly because Creeping Death makes it so damn good, coupled with Piranhado, which basically sucks all the mobs into one place so you can lob locusts onto them all and then dont have to worry about the dot dropping off or the dmg boost from Piranha as CD makes them both last 5min.

If you luck out and get that set bonus that causes all the dots to instantly do their dmg then your laughing, as that gives a huge boost of dmg and only reduces the duration by 30 sec, infact theres another legendary that halves the duration of the dots making them do their dmg even faster, that makes locusts and Piranha last 2:30 each for insane dmg, can only imagine the dmg resulting from the 4 piece bonus on that.

I think I pre ordered mine about 6months before release when the price was lower. I remember after release I could have sold the whole box for a nice profit. Thought with the number of hours I've put into D2, its only right I got a collectors edition when I heard D3 was coming out (back in 2007/2008 haha!)
