DIY Hand Amputation

So having my daily chuckle at the daily fail, I came across this gem of an article:

Father builds guillotine and chops off his own hand in bid to end years of agony after accident left him in pain but doctors did not help...

I was then like

then I read a bit further and saw:

and it still hurts

At that point I lost it.

I don't even know what to say, even though he has passed a load of tests he has to be nuts.

Must have been in a lot of pain, and if the NHS won't do it, what other choice does he have.

I seem to remember hearing a very similar tale about a guy with an injured leg doing a DIY amputation. Tended to feel it was a myth, since it involved using a train.
