*** The Official Playstation 4 (PS4) Thread ***

I bit my tongue the last time this came up, but if you have to pay £25 over three months then perhaps a controller charging dock isn't the most important thing to be spending money on.

I had to double read that as well... Each to their own but buying ps4 peripherals on credit seems a little odd... Now buying the whole console maybe, but even then I'd advise against any forns of credit for a gaming hobby ...

Depends how you use 'credit'
One £25 doesn't matter but on top oiff everything else and it can be useful to do

I have £1000s on credit at any one time interest free so I can invest the money.
Get 4-5 credit cards with £4000-£5000 limits or whatever at 12-18 months interest free.

That means all that money is going in the bank to earn interest on. Some of mine gets up to 8%.

Not recommended unless you're really into managing your finances and have good will power to keep it under control but you can make a decent amount per month if you want.

I don't have to, I can buy it right now, but why would I turn down interest free credit if there are no downsides?

Because it's £25. Just pay it and be done with it, surely?

It might also effect your credit rating if you are making lots of small purchases on credit regardless of whether paid on time or not. There is also the chance that it becomes a habit and before you know it your are paying off lots of smaller purchases within 3 months.

I prefer to just pay out right for peace of mind.

It's £28.95 from Very as you have to pay £3.95 delivery.

I charge my controller off my Virgin box. It has a permanently powered USB port so just plug the controller into that when done.

Are there any figures on how much energy the PS4 uses while in standby etc? Not a huge concern to me but it's always interesting to know. I'd check myself but I seem to have lost my plug-in energy meter because I can't find it anywhere.

Ah so nothing worth worrying about then. I've been leaving mine in standby so I'll probably just continue to do that. Doesn't seem to be causing any problems.

The main reason I want the dock is because it uses the port on the bottom to charge, rather than having to keep plugging/unplugging a micro USB which aren't the sturdiest of connectors.

Anyhow I've had a dispatch email from Very, so looks like they are one of the few places that actually have stock.

I have that dock and it's good, didn't want usb cables hanging out the front of the ps4 :)

Just spotted the amp cooling, mine gets hot but just because something gets hot doesn't mean its overheating.

I want the sony dock as well, but not in any rush, are they heavy so you dont lift the dock up when removing a pad?

Does your AMP really get that hot ? The passive cooling it has should be plenty as it has decent clearances. Or am I missing something ?

Aye, Onkyo run very hot so i read,
This basically indicates the internal temperature of the receiver is less than 150 degrees F and will not prompt the activation of the cooling fans and the heat sinks are compensating for the heat dissipatio

I wasn't happy with the heat it puts out and have never seen my built in fan even come on yet, so these two take away the heat which puts my mind a little to rest:)
