Delivery man inside the house...

Are you for real? Because the front door is unlocked, you're assuming that the house owner is happy for people to open the door and let themselves in? What planet do you live on?

What if the house owner simply forgot to lock the door?
What if (like me) the house owner is taking various bits of rubbish out and doesn't want to lock the door between trips?
What if the house owner is waiting for their girlfriend to come around and is waiting naked in the bedroom for them?

The only time it is acceptable for a delivery man to open my unlocked front door and drop a parcel off is if I have planned it with them previously. Other than that, they can knock, wait for me to answer, and card me if I'm not there. If I come down the stairs and find that delivery man in my house, I wouldn't ask him what he was doing, I'd be treating him as a burglar and tackling him to the floor.

What bad things actually happen if a postie opens your front door to deliver a parcel? I don't get all the rage.

After reading the OP again it sounds like you may have left you door open and not just unlocked.

Also, the delivery guy rang the bell to alert you to them being there and closed your door for you

If this is the case then I dont see any issue

It's not a question of bad things happening, and I can't believe you can't see that. It's his house, it's his property. The only people who can come into my house are the people I invite in. How on earth can you not see that?!

The parcel's his property too. Would be nice to get it delivered and not have to make a trip to some depot.

Why so much jealousy about your house? postie sticking a parcel in doesn't diminish the sanctity of your castle.

I give up, you're obviously more than happy for anyone to walk into your home whether you're there or not. Feel free to send me your address and unlock the door when you're out. I'll come and have a good look around when you're not there.

Personally if it was me I would be happy the item was delivered at all and not just ticketed which seems to be the norm for my deliveries, even when I'm in the house.

There is a big difference between the courier opening the door to set the parcel inside and strolling in and helping himself to your tea and biscuits.
