Michelin Dynamic are pretty good at that price. I've been commuting on them for about a year now and I've been impressed. Pretty good puncture resistance, they can definitely take a proper beating, acceptable grip and they seem to just keep going on and on.

Is that dynamic sport? It's what I had on originally oddly enough, they did last ages to be fair...

iirc, Berger has tried these, and loves them

I bought one of those race packs which had loads of gels.

All the flavours are ok, apple, orange, citrus and raspberry apart from mojito which was absolutely foul. I had one bit and squeezed the rest out on the ground it was that bad.

Thanks for the link Grudas, but why would these be good for my needs? Is it because they offer them in green?

Of course you could try Schwalbe Marathon Plus. Available from 23mm to 37mm and they are absolutely bombproof in terms of puncture protection. The downside is that they ride like they are made from hosepipe and the hard rubber can be a bit sketchy in the cold / wet.

Today I went to put on my bib shorts for the first time this year and...I ripped them half way down the middle :(. One too many bacon sandwiches in the off season.

Still wearable in the short term, but can anyone recommend some bib shorts that emphasis good padding rather than a high end brand or design? Ideally ~£50.

Altura Progel are comfortable with decent pads and reassuring strappage.

£32 on Wiggle

Mine are Classic with the tan sidewall, but I think it's the same tyre. There didn't used to be a Classic and a Sport, they were just called Dynamic.

I can't find Jack Browns anywhere in the UK. I resorted to Schwalbe Kojaks but the sidewalls are paper thin.

kinoko had stock, not sure, else alexcycles is fast delivery from JP

Haha no.. I've had them for a bit over 7000miles.. Well that brand I switched between rubino And zaffiro.. Mind you I did ride with them(23c) on wet mud.. And over dirt and over London roads.. And they have been fine both grip wise and puncture wise.. Plus they're really cheap! The only minus is the weight :)

OH yea, anyone tried the Mojito flavour energy gels from wiggle yet?
They sound disgusting.

I'm back on my homemade energy drinks/gels but with a slightly modified recipe.

  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 250-500ml water
  • 2 fresh squeezed limes (or lemons)
  • 1 tsp hemp protein
  • 1 tsp flax seed powder
And just use less water/2 tsps of seeds to make it more gel like.

Weird.

I bought some chia seeds yesterday and my first post this morning was going to be caking you for that recipe.

Don't all the seeds gunk up your bottles?
Nope, for some reason (not intended) all the bottles I have have fairly wide apertures though.

.

I've since added the hemp protein/flax seed powder as I've radically changed diet (mostly raw/unprocessed/wholefoods/almost vegan) as an experiment, and the hemp protein is one of the purest forms available.
