Windows 8.1 Update 1 arriving on March 11

With the update(s) applied, the all apps screen now groups alphabetically taking up more space. Does anyone know how to remove that grouping?

Had the update from last month - so all were already installed except for KB2949621 the last update in the list. All running ok, but my version shows 6.3.9600 without the 17031, but all ok I presume.

Painless otherwise.

You'll be ok.

AIDA64 gives that build info or you could use regedit to look at key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

I decided to hold back with the update last month until it appeared on MDSN.

Know where I can get this? Want to update the Mrs's 8.1 install.
 
On Windows 7 (Just installed it last week) at the moment I can upgrade to this update 1 via the .ISO above and it will keep my files but I want to keep my apps too. Is there a way of doing this?

I don't really want to go through the process of installing Steam, Origin etc all over again.

Finally, Microsoft has tweaked it's boot sequence depending on the type of device you are using. If the device has a touch screen (tablet and some laptops), the first boot will be to the modern environment. If your device does not have a touch screen, then the default boot will be to the classic desktop. It is important to note that if you are upgrading from Windows 8.1, your previous settings will be honored and will not use the above configurations.

this is something i said should happen over a year ago...
