Windows 8.1 Update 1 arriving on March 11

I can't deny that, it is pretty quick.
But the user interface isn't good

The UI is very good indeed. It's just not the same one you've used for 10+ years. Just stick with it for a couple of weeks relearn those muscle memory and you will soon adjust and see the benefits.

I don't have much of a problem with the start screen, but there are clearly big issues with the OS. It doesn't have a unified feel at all - having two different locations for settings is stupid, as was removing the start button and shutdown buttons. The charm bar feels like clutter and the difference in handling modern and classic apps is awkward.

There is a lot of good in the OS and I have no problems using it, but it clearly was badly executed and Microsoft do have a lot of work to do.

Solitaire isn't installed automatically and to download it I need to make a microsoft account which I don't want to do :(

I bought a new laptop last week, and I have been using Windows 8.

It's terrible!
It took my laptop around 10 hours to update to 8.1 for some reason, it kept 'gathering information'. It took around 2 restarts for it to work!

It's an absolute struggle to find out how to change options, like removing a password on logon. It should be intuitive not and not require me to google the answer.
Luckily I don't use my laptop that much, but my god they really did drop the ball with this OS

Bizarre. It took mine about 25 - 30 minutes on a mechanical. The longest part was the download. 3.84GB or there about…

The download shouldn't have taken long, I've got fibre broadband and I use a cat 5e cable on my laptop.
Still it's done now so I shouldn't complain to much
