looking thou the gpu board there is a hell of a lot of faulty amd cards. i bought 2 x gtx 770 with water blocks for a silly low price, sold water blocks and cards separate and after days reading reviews decided to use the cash to buy a new 280x and water block along with a new case then go on the **** with the rest.

any ways ive had numerous problems and opened numerous threads askin for an answer but none have been given, despite the vast majority having superior knowledge to me no one has an answer so basically what i want to know is

1 have i been shafted by AMD

and

2 what is my best option here

not expecting a solution to my probs but guarantee i have loads of " you should have stuck with nvidia" replsy hahahaaaa

all i want is for my pc to run games with little to no hassle. no wonder console gamers stick there nowhere near the hassle just hope steambox can convert the masses

reinstall windows.
may be a bit drastic, but problem will be solved. i'm pretty sure its an incomplete nvidia driver uninstall causing conflicts with the current amd driver

You should have stuck with nVidia :D

In truth though, sometimes it is better to bite the bullet and go for a complete reinstall of your OS.

You should be fine with a single 280X (HD7970), they are good cards.

Try reinstalling the OS as the guys above have said.

...and yet you bought an AMD card? I am an advanced user and love messing about with stuff but even I stick to NVidia to save myself a lot of headaches.

About 12-13yrs of toing and froing has taught me to stay clear if I just want to plug and play... throughout that time the AMD fanboys past and present have told me that AMD are as trouble-free as NVidia but whenever I gave them them the benefit of the doubt it turned out not to be the case.

NVidia do more than just winning benchmarks and best value charts but you won't hear it from AMD's evangelical fanboys, who seem to love the company more than they do gaming.

I won't bite... troll away mate.. troll away

Lol i had the same thing with my 290 crossfire so i come back to nvidia my 780 ti serves me well.
Fresh windows install did not help me.

The 280X or HD 7970 is a very well established card and iirc they don't have any major faults that should trouble the OP especially as he is only using a single card.

I will bite because I'm sick to death with fanboys ruining this forum. Having no allegiance to either graphics card manufacturer and having had super cards from both. My last three graphics cards have been Amd/Ati and trouble free and before that Nvidia, trouble free, you sir are a typical fanboy and the above is utter rubbish. Please stop this fanboy stuff, surely you can post comments without having to blatently troll.

To the OP, sorry you are having problems with your new card, it can happen to anyone and there can be many causes, hopefully someone will hit on it and save you a lot of hassle. Good luck mate. :)
