Forgot how bad job searching was :(

and now the jobcentre is doing its best to slow down my job application by refusing to release my signing dates to G4S even though i filled a form out for them to do that when i had my interview 3 weeks ago?!

just had to make a 2nd call to them after the first call i made last week resulted in a duff fax number that no one can actually work out where its for today Oo.

so now im waiting for them to call me back and god only knows what story il get told.

thanks to all this faffing around im going to be £220 out thanks to being off the work program in a few weeks and no chance of claiming back the costs of my security badge.

Not sure if I am allowed to post jobs on here so mod's please delete if inappropriate.. I am posting on behalf of my business so not a recruitment agency.. (nor will I look at any c.v. sent from recruitment agency)

I am looking for an accountants assistant.. preferably with 2+ years experience and relevant qualifications.. Role based either in central London or Brighton.. would also consider part-time home working; although you would need to be able to commute to either location.. Salary depending on experience and work location..

Is a small team so lots of opportunity to work on projects planned and on the go such as new billing system, price modelling review, product analysis, etc... along side more normal accountancy work.. very fast growing SaaS company plenty of opportunity for progression.. We have various limited entities outside of the UK as well so some good exposure to accounting in different territories...

please send c.v. to email in trust.

Well, I'm back on this merry-go-round again: the company I worked for since 2012 has formally been placed into Administration as of this afternoon, after attempts to sell the company failed. To get that job took 214 applications and seven months.

well 6 weeks tomorrow since i interviewed, been told iv passed initial screening and my details are back with the recruiter and they will call me once they have worked out where im going.

the fun thing for me is im now at the end of the work programme come tomorrow and wed i go back to the jobcentre to be placed on the intensive work search programme, so i guess a few weeks of being made to jump about like a performing monkey while all the time being told how its my fault for being a jobless bum. even though i technically have a job il still be expected to run around like an idiot and do god only knows what.

really not looking forward to this at all.

To be harsh...you ARE a jobless bum.

All you do is whine and complain. Get a job, any job.

Reaching the end of the work program is pathetic, unless you're an illiterate inbreed with a single digit IQ.

You DO NOT try.

thanks for that one.

i tried enough to get my sia certification so i can get back in to security work. and have been applying for jobs none stop since i got it.

the reason i haven't ended up working sooner is iv got buggered knee's which forced me to stop working my last job so i couldnt just walk in to a warehouse job or something else. hell if my knee's where 100% fine id still be working.

but no your right im at fault here.

Jesus, when has ever an IQ ever been apart of any sort of job requirement?

Heh, so, still in the same boat as when I made this thread I think.....No idea on what 'career' I want to be doing, sucks majorly.

How do you know what you want to be doing exactly? My field is 'IT', so basically IT Support, I just fix problems by researching....However I'm really not liking IT Support any more, therefore I'm stuck and have no idea what on earth to do other that that......

HALP

I'm a forensic scientist. Or an analytical chemist, if you prefer.

Sounds awesome to be fair.

I am working self employed and work is scarce still. So I have taken a part time job to help make ends meet.

Just been through the most humiliating experience of my life however. Went for an interview on Friday last week. Was invited back for a second on Tuesday this week. Unfortunately on Saturday I thought I came down with something making me vomit practically all weekend.

On Sunday and Monday night I was sweating badly all night. Tuesday I left it till the last minute to shower as I was still dripping and felt like rubbish. Got through the interview although perspiring badly. Was asked to come in for training the next day but again I felt like rubbish. Again showered at the last minute and put half a tonne of deodorant on to try to disguise it but to no avail.

20 minutes in they asked me to go home as I was perspiring heavily and was unpleasant for all. I went straight to the Doctors who tested my blood sugar to find it was 6.5, 6 being diabetic, I am a border line diabetic I usually hover around 5.5-5.9. I had an insulin stab and I felt better within hours.

Really thought things had been humiliating enough but I got an email from the job asking me to come in today. Went in feeling much better, all being very embarrassed and did the training. I now start work with them next week but had no opportunity to explain what the problem was.

I need the work so badly I now have to face the humiliation going in when they probably just thought I had poor personal hygiene.

Maybe I am too sensitive as I just can't get the humiliation out of my mind even though it seems to have worked out ok.

Turn up covered head to toe in talcum powder. :D

I'll no doubt be in the same boat... going self-employed as of October after I'm made redundant from the full-time position.

Gotta take the leap now, or I never will, and I'll always resent not trying. My target is 8 months to have a good picture of whether things are going to work out. If not, it'll be back to being a wage slave.

Go for it I say. I had a very successful business from very little. You wont believe how much extra you are motivated when it is directly going into your pocket.

Mine declined through poor health on my side, however now I am fit again I intend to rebuild.

Only advice is get a good accountant/bookkeeper even if just for advice. Even if you do your own accountants you need to be crystal on what you can and can't claim for. My father is a tax manager so I am lucky, without his help I would have paid £1000's extra by simply not knowing what is deductible that I wasn't aware of.

and the job i had been told i had gotten with g4s has now vanished. just gotten this email back.

With reference to your application and interview for the above post, I am pleased to inform you that your application has been successful, and you have been successfully 5 year screened.
However, at the current time we are unable to offer you a specific position. If a suitable vacancy occurs, within the next 3 months our team will contact you again with an offer of appointment. Please note this does not constitute a formal job offer.

in short im livid after being told i had it 6 weeks ago. gotta love how things work out.

The government has just given G4S the all clear to take on contracts again despite all of the fraud they have committed, so they should be hiring again soon. Just don't do anything illegal as part of your job decription because they won't think twice about labelling you as just another bad egg.

That's a disgrace but I have encountered similar things.

I nailed a job with a well known animal charity as an IT Trainer. I was given a start date and told contract will be signed on the start date. I turned up ready to start on the agreed date only to be ushered into an office.

I past another office where I saw the lady in tears sitting down with a director I was meant to be replacing.

I was informed by the HR manager she had retracted her notice that morning and they had agreed to let her stay. Long and short was I went through interviews, tests and given a demonstration training session for nothing.

They did it to me a second time as well but I was told 2 days before the start date. The 3rd time I told them where to stick their non existent job.

I too have recently passed my SIA Door Supervisor, Security guard and CCTV certificates. I have not even bothered paying the £330 licence fee as nobody seems interested unless you have years of experience.
